Leave the bustle of Bucharest behind and head for Romania's favorite holiday destination on a tour to the beautiful Black Sea coast. In Constanta, dig into the area’s ancient history at an archaeology museum, learn about Romanian folk art traditions, and step inside the country’s largest mosque. Then, soak up some sun and relaxed local culture on the sandy beaches of Mamaia, a popular seaside resort known as the ‘Pearl of the Black Sea.’

Our tour to Constanta starts early in the morning and takes us east for 230 km on the A2 highway all the way to the majestic Black Sea.

Our first stop will be at Black Sea Coast, where we will find the symbol of Constanta- the spectacular Art Nouveau Casino standing between the commercial port and tourist one. Built in 1910 by the first King of Romania, the casino nowadays stands with a great view towards the sea as one of the main landmarks of Constanta.

We then walk towards St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, an outstanding monument built at the beginning of the 19th century in byzantine architecture, nowadays it stands as proof of how far Christianity has spread. The cathedral also lies next to ruins of the ancient city of Tomis, former name of Constanta, that offer on insight on how the city used to be organized during Roman times.

After the cathedral we head towards the largest mosque in Romania, built in 1910 by our King Carol ! for the local Muslim community, nowadays this mosque stands as testimony to the ethnic diversity and confessional tolerance. Climb the 140 steps of the minaret for a breathtaking view over the city and sea.

We then reach Ovid Square where we will be going inside the Museum of Archaeology and History that exhibits the largest collection of vases, statuary, artifacts and jewellery from the Greek-Roman period in Romania. Join our guide inside to hear ancient history between Romans and former Dacians.

After the Museum of Archaeology and History we will head for the Roman Mosaic museum where we will be seeing how a former market, placed next to the Black Sea, used to be. The Roman Mosaic section of the museum was formed in 1966 to protect ancient history that lay within the floor and artifacts that inhabit the Roman Mosaic.

Continue your tour of the city with the Folk Art Museum, where you will be better acquainted to traditional life in Romania through its impressive collection of costumes, household items and religious icons.

No trip to Constanta is complete without a stop in the seaside resort of Mamaia, known as the Pearl of the Black Sea. With its fine sand and line up of restaurants, cafés and clubs, Mamaia is the most popular destination on the Black Sea, offering both relaxation, as well as entertainment. You can sit back, listen to the sounds of waves and enjoy the afternoon sun at the beach before heading back to Bucharest.

It was a terrible experience!! The One Excellence Tour Company denied seat in the min-van as it was full and the tour guide promised that, one more mini-van will be picking us up. Even after waiting for an hour there was no sign of pickup. When we tried to call the customer service phone number, no one picked the phone. Sent multiple whatsapp message and email messages. No response at all. Very disappointed. Hoping to receive the refund....

Good guide and driver, very helpful, wanted to please. Constanta interesting, not much open in Mamaia but got to paddle in the Black Sea.

Andrei Knows the city and history about Romania. He is very easygoing and well organised the trip.
Beach is fun! Bring water shoes and swimsuits , would be hard to walk on the beach because it’s full of shells! Limited time to swim in the beach.
Bring at least 40 lei for ticket of optional tourist attractions. we visited the mosque and history museum, it’s definitely worth it

What a great trip! Andrei (on the right in our pic) was so friendly and knowledgeable from the moment we met him! He picked us up at our hotel right on time in a beautifully kept van. As we traveled through Bucharest he shared many great stories and history. He did a great job balancing talking vs giving us space. The ride to Constanta was an easy 2 1/2 hours. The actual town was very interesting...so much fascinating history! Andrei kept us moving at a great pace. We were able to see everything outlined without feeling rushed or that we were lingering too long. He was wonderful about highlighting certain points to keep the kids particularly interested. The kids loved having time to swim in the black sea and had an absolutely amazing time at a local water partk. Andrei made the water park happen for them and it made their day! We got home no problem, again in a comfortable, air conditioned van. Thanks for a great day!!

The guide, Marius was excellent and made the trip as informative and enjoyable as possible. However, the locations do not have much to offer, unless one is after a swim or a relaxing lunch by the beach, which is only recommended in summer time.

Very enjoyable day. Definitely worth climbing the 140 steps of the mosque minaret to see the the view of the Black Sea. Walking along the gigantic beach in Mamaia and finding shells was my favorite part of the day

Myself and my girlfriend were lucky enough to get the most amazing tour guide Andrei who made us feel so welcome. As beautiful as Romania is, we both agreed we wouldn’t have enjoyed it half as much without having such a friendly and informative guide.
