This small group tour was a great experience with exceptional service. Paula, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, personable and fun to talk to and learn from. And an extremely competent driver especially when we hit fog. We really enjoyed spending the day with her, walking around, and were thoroughly engaged seeing points significant to Derry’s/Londonderry’s history. Would highly recommend taking this tour for an in depth and more personal experience!

Our guide, Paula, was engaging and informative. She spoke very knowledgeably about the history of Ireland, and in particular about Derry. The information was presented in an unbiased format, and she willingly shared her experiences growing up in Northern Ireland. We had quite an enjoyable day.

I was travelling by cruise ship, and since I had been to Belfast twice before, decided I wanted to visit Derry. Barry picked me up promptly at the ship, and we started our journey to Derry. We chatted about the troubles in Derrys past, and everything else. I walk with a cane and he was very attentive to my needs and restrictions. I felt i saw it all in 1 day. Went to a wonderful pub for lunch. Terrible traffic going back to ship, but Barry navigated it well, and we arrived in plenty of time. All in all a fantastic day.........thanks Barry.

The tour of the walled city and hearing all the history. The explanations of the murals and then seeing them up close was somewhat emotional. We all enjoyed our knowledgeable guide and his insights.

Barry McCann, contacted through Tours by Locals took us on an amazingly informative trip from Belfast to Derry where we learned about Bloody Sunday and the events leading up to and following it. We also learned about life in Derry today. He then took us to a stone circle in County Donegal, an interesting side trip. Barry was informative and transparent. The trip was well organized for maximum tour benefit. I highly recommend this tour and Barry.

Barry was an excellent tour guide and provided a well-paced and informational tour of Derry. He picked us up from our hotel with a clean van and was pointing out barious points of interest on our way to Derry. When we arrived, he started by explaining the history of the city from early settlement through the Troubles before taking us on a walk along the Bogside to see the murals, the memorials, and the Free Derry Corner. Unfortunately, the Free Derry Museum was closed (we went on a Sunday), but Barry had a plan and took us to the Tower Museum where we saw great exhibits on the Spanish Armada and the history of Derry. From there, we saw the Peace Flame, Peace Bridge, and Guildhall before having lunch. After lunch, we walked the city wall and Barry explained a bit about the current political situation. We ended the day by stopping for a drink at the Ponderosa, Ireland's highest pub on the way back to Belfast. It was a great way to end the tour.

Barry was attentive throughout the day and provided a flexible tour schedule with a ton of information. I highly recommend this tour.

This private tour to Derry was just the perfect choice to see a little bit more of Ireland and really learn its history. We didn't know what to expect, we had seen most of the attractions near Belfast already, so this was no disappointment at all. Barry our driver/guide picked us up at the Cruise Port at the agreed time, he was very knowledgeable, really knows the history of Ireland, the good, the bad, the wars, everything, he has many photos and visual aids to help you understand everything that happened in the town of Derry and in all of that part of Ireland. It was a well paced tour, even for my father who has its walking difficulties, Barry was always very accommodating bringing the car to us so he would not walk too far. We first saw the murals around the town, then we visited the museum that was well worth it, the Bloody Sunday Memorial, later went to the walled part of the city, saw the Guildhall, Peace flame, Peace Bridge and walked a bit in the town walls. Finished with lunch at the oldest pub in town The River Inn, which dates back to the 1680's, which offers very nice selection of food and drinks at a very good price. Overall a really good tour, well worth your while if you have seen all other attractions around Belfast and want to go deeper into Irish history, also with the best guide you could get.
Highly recommended!

Tood us to all tbe intersting places, and looked after us really well - even found a shop where my grandson could buy a Derry flag (flags are one of his obsessions). I even got toplaythe organ in the Guildhall.
