Starting from Mater Dei, in the Sanita’ district, with your guide you will enter into the heart one of the main areas of Naples. You will visit the Cimitero delle Fontanelle, pass by the XVII century buildings of the aristocratic families of Naples, to end into the Borgo dei Vergini, one of the main local markets, next to the Poppella’s shop, where you will try the fiocco di neve. Go ahead and walk into the narrow streets of the historical centre, where you can enjoy fresh buffalo mozzarella, pasta dishes, visit a limoncello factory and more. Your guide will lead you onto  the decumani and cardini of the Greek-Roman urbem, passing on via dei Tribunali, piazza San Domenico, piazza del Gesu’ Nuovo, piazzetta Nilo and Spaccanapoli. Exit the historical centre and turn on via Toledo to reach piazza del Plebiscito, to enjoy a lovely coffee and a traditional pastry – from the baba’ to the sfogliatella, the cakes window will amaze your eyes.

The guide was absolutely fabulous and obviously loved his city. The information he gave us about Naples, it’s history and it’s vibe was eye-opening. The food was very good and definitely enough unless you are a rugby player like one guy in our group who told his wife he was still hungry. The rest of us groaned! It does not matter if you do the food and wine tour or just the food tour as Naples is like New Orleans - street drinking is no problem so you can grab a drink as you go. Favorites were the buffalo mozzarella and the limoncello factory/store but loved all the other street food too.

Mario is a great guide and took us to some fantastic spots for tasting some of the typical food of Naples. He is so very knowledgeable about history and culture that the tour was much more than a food tour.
I highly recommend you take one of Mario’s tours when visiting Naples.

Our tour of Naples’ food, with Mario, was a great way to spend a few hours in Naples. We visited historical sites, learned all about them from Mario, tasted all that Naples has to offer, and finished the day with some lovely limoncello...couldn’t ask for more!
