Swim with sea lions at their colony on the northern tip of Espiritu Santo Island, and with giant whale sharks, on this full-day, once-in-a-lifetime trip. Our skiff-rides to and from the various activities give us a panoramic view of the beautiful Bay of La Paz and it’s fascinating combination of desert and marine ecosystems. Leaving from La Paz in the morning, we take a 60 minute boat ride to the sea lion colony at Los Islotes. Here we will jump into the water to snorkel in a wild place, with playful and curious sea lion pups. Additionally, this rocky outcrop showcases beautiful shallow coral reefs full of fish and steep cliffs for seabirds including Frigate birds and Blue-footed Boobies. Afterwards, we make our way to one of the many beautiful beaches on the island for lunch and a rest. Finally, we make our way to the whale shark sanctuary to swim with these enigmatic animals.

What an experience! We are so glad we booked with Eco Migrations. From the first interactions with Thomas at the shop, and throughout the entire day with JJ, Thomas, and another boat captain, this was simply an incredible, perfect day. These guys clearly care deeply for the wildlife and the ecosystems around La Paz, and their knowledge, expertise, and friendliness added to the magic of the day. We can't recommend this trip and Eco Migrations highly enough. The sea lion snorkel was so much more than just sea lions, (which were so cute, beautiful and fun). The fish and underwater landscapes were abundant and breathtaking. Ceviche lunch on our own beach was wonderful. Then the main event - swimming with the docile, majestic, and jaw-droppingly beautiful and huge whale shark!! Can't begin to describe the feelings that this experience brought. Seeing all of this incredible wildlife was such a memorable experience, and having caring, fun and professional guides like Eco Migrations made it that much better. Thanks guys.

We had such a great trip with Eco Migrations. We came to La Paz specifically to swim with whale sharks and so glad we chose this tour operator. Tomàs was very kind and knowledgeable. JJ and Martin were the other boat crew members who made for a memorable experience. I was a little concerned about the cold water but the wetsuits really helped. The boat ride out to the sealion colony was beautiful. The water there was a bit choppy but it never felt unsafe. My 10 year old was a bit hesitant because of the (harmless) jellyfish but Tomas made sure to check on us and stay close while we were in the water. The ceviche lunch on the secluded beach was excellent! The fish was super fresh and very tasty. Even my son approved. The beach was gorgeous and gave us a nice opportunity to warm up and take in the beauty of the private island. For the second half of the tour we headed to the Bay to scout for the whale sharks. It didn’t take long for JJ to spot the huge fish and we were off and jumping in to swim with the gentle giant. We had multiple opportunities to swim alongside him and it was such an amazing feeling. We feel so lucky for the experience and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tomàs and his crew.

This tour was an awesome experience!! Thomas, JJ, and Martin were great guides. They were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The locations they take you to have vibrant marine ecosystems teeming with life. The ceviche they provide for lunch is good. Consider taking a jacket because it can get chilly on the boat on the way to the locations.

First let me begin by saying that the crew we went with were fantastic they were super attentive, professional, knowledgeable and made safety a priority. As a side note I would recommend warm clothing for the trip to the island, (we went in February) it was windy and pretty chilly day. The boat trip out to the island held a few unexpected surprises we were able to spot rays ‘pop corning’ out of the water, as well as a pod of dolphins .
The seals were like playful puppies, curious and seemed to enjoy interacting with us it was a lot of fun, as an added bonus there are many beautiful fish, as well as some coral I spotted on one of the rocks.
Afterwards, we went to lunch and had a delicious ceviche.
The highlight of the trip was no doubt was the whale shark, I was able to swim alongside his head for what seemed like ages, it was such a privilege to be able to see such a magnificent, serene, creature in its natural environment. We were able to go in several times so if you weren’t able to see it properly the first time then you got a second chance. I would thoroughly recommend this experience, a chance of a lifetime.

We had the best time snorkeling with the sea lions and whale sharks. Also, the ceviche lunch on the private beach was incredible! The guides were so knowledgeable and helpful, we would definitely go again!

This was an experience of a lifetime. Our guides were so wonderful. They were knowledgable, kind and enthusiastic. Swimming with the sea lions was a life highlight. Not only do you get to experience incredible animal encounters, you also get the most scenic and gorgeous boat ride out to the rookery. We had a delicious lunch of fresh ceviche (the best ceviche we’ve had yet in Baja) on a secluded sunny beach that had a gigantic tortuous shell on it!! Then the whale shark was an adventure in itself hopping in and out and trying to keep up with this enormous creature in its natural habitat. We were so fortunate to have this experience with such passionate and talented individuals !!! Thank you eco migrations !!!!! Would 10/10 recommend.

What a great trip. The captain and crew were knowledgable and friendly. Jose and Erin were careful to prepare the entire group for the excursion, and checked and rechecked to assure all gear and supplies were not left behind. The sea lion snorkeling experience was nothing short of amazing, and the paddleboarding and lunch on the beach was a nice way to wind down the day.
