We went on four tours during our time in Thailand and unfortunately this is the only one I would not go on again. Overall, it was handled much less professionally than the others and did not follow the published itinerary.

It had been raining heavily, and we were already at the dock when they talked to the captain to see if it was safe to go out. The boat wasn't in good shape and there were no obvious safety precautions.

We didn't actually land on Koh Tan, which didn't bother me, but is relevant. Koh Madsum is advertised in their listing as having a luxury resort. This might be true, but we landed on an area of the island with a run down bar and the worst bathrooms I've ever seen. There were pigs, but also chickens and three litters of puppies from overbred mothers, all in poor physical shape and some with open wounds.

"Dinner" was served at Koh Madsum at 4pm, not after the sunset or back on the pier. It was not the Thai set menu as advertised but coconut chicken tenders, unseasoned fried rice (literally not even soy sauce), french fries, salad components without dressing, fruit, and water.

They made the call to end the tour early because the rain got really severe. That was the right decision for safety, and I'm glad they did. But there was no explanation of missing the other two islands we expected to see.

I tipped the guides solely because this is part of their income and I didn't want to be rude, not because I had a great experience.

I will add that we went in November during the low tourist and rainy season, so this may have factored in. But I expected at least the experience they advertised, and this fell far short.
