We are Kyoto ECO Trip, a rental bicycle company based in the heart of Kyoto and our aim is to raise awareness of the brilliance of riding a bicycle in the beautiful Kyoto. Bicycle rides help us find the hidden beauty of Kyoto that most tourists are likely to overlook and we hope this tour helps you see things you are not able to see when you take public transport like subways, buses, and taxis.

The type of bicycle we use on this tour is a 3-speed city cruiser with a basket in front. First, you get to exlpore the famous thousands of the torii gates in Fushimi Inari Shrine. Next, the beautiful Nanzen-ji Temple and the popular Heian Jungu Shrine is also our stop. There are a few of the popular spots you make a quick stop during our stop such as the Gion District and Sanjusangendo Temple.

We went cycling (3 people) on the 31st of May. Even though it was a bit rainy at the end, we had an amazing day! Our tour guide Ryuto was a very nice and knowledgeable guy. Any questions we had (and we asked a lot), he was able to answer or find out very quickly. He safely guided us through the streets of Kyoto and past the Kamo river and made this tour a lot of fun! It was not too difficult to cycle, but if your stamina isn't the greatest you can choose to ride an electric bike for a small fee. The company also provides you with water bottles and a raincoat in case of upcoming rain, which we greatly appreciated ;)

It was a fun and unique way of exploring Kyoto, so I highly recommend taking this tour!

Amazing tour!! Ryuto taught us so much about Shinto, Buddhism, and the history of Kyoto!! The bike ride wasn’t too strenuous but there were some hills. If you’re looking for a tour with a great guide and lots of interesting information, this one’s for you!! 10/10 recommend.

We had booked a three and a half hour tour, which ended up lasting almost four and a half hours. Our guide was Riuto, an incredibly friendly and highly competent young English student from Kyoto. A great tour, would do it again anytime, especially with Riuto

This was fantastic! The tour is new (only opened a few months ago) and I was super impressed. Our guide Ryoto was the best. He was very knowledgeable and was excellent at navigating the city. This really was the best way to see the city

This is a new company that has just started doing bike tours. We booked with them as the other tour operators were fully booked.

Without giving away any spoilers, we really enjoyed our pleasant half day excursion with them. The bikes are in good condition and cycling around Kyoto is easy as most of the cycling is on flat ground. You do have to be aware for cars and pedestrians.

Our guide Aki was knowledgeable and friendly and his command of English is good. You get a chance to see parts of Kyoto that you would miss by train, and bus.

We would recommend using them.

PS: the bike rental has no restroom facilities at time of writing and so you'd want to come prepared.

This tour is an absolute GEM! They are a long-standing bike rental shop in Kyoto, and just launched their bike tours. Our tour guide was born and raised in Kyoto and very knowledgeable. He had great English, was well-prepared and answered all of our questions about Kyoto. He had a lot of inside, local-only knowledge on the area and temples - even some off the beaten trail, magical spots, like one in a bamboo forest, just steps away from a tourist area, that no one else knew about!

He was very knowledgeable on history and culture and helped us understand local customs. He was very patient and easy going with the pacing of the tour and we were able to go as slow or as quickly as we wanted through several destinations. He also helped us take lots of photos! We covered a lot of ground and got to see so much of Kyoto in a short amount of time. Our tour guide also knew the best times to visit each spot and planned the tour accordingly so we were never in an overly-crowded area.

They provided us with a water bottle in a bottle holder of the bike which came in very handy! The bikes were in perfect condition. The gears helped me speed through hills and peddle efficiently. There is a basket on the bike which is great for holding belongings while cycling. The location is only a few minutes walk from Kyoto Station which is very convenient.

Everyone we met at the shop was so friendly and welcoming! We cannot thank you enough for this wonderful experience and I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kyoto - especially if you want to see a lot, but not feel rushed, on a tight schedule! Special thanks to our great tour guide!!!
