Tulamben: USAT Liberty Wreck, Drop off and Coral garden are located about 2,5 hours drive from South Bali. Here we will guide you for snorkeling from the shore settled at the front of the beach restaurant. Just a few fin kicks away is famous USAT Liberty shipwreck covered by impressive corals and dotted by a lot of reef fishes and Turtles. Trip will start at 7:30 am from your hotel and will finish at 5 pm.

Having planned to be able to dive with tanks on this wreck, I wasn't too sure if snorkling could really feel satisfying.
My son had recovered from a recent ear infection and was under doctors recommendation to avoid much depth so we decided to give it a go with mask and snorkle. The Liberty was torpedoed by the Japanese in 1942 but managed to limp to shore in Tulamben where it settled on the rocks along the shoreline. There it stayed until 1963 when earthquakes related to the eruption of nearby Agung caused the wreck to slip down into deeper water. Parts of what seem to be the bow still lie at shallow depth about 40m from the beach and have a good coat of coral and lots of fish and are quite accessible for snorklers .
Truth be told, this site is best appreciated by the scuba equipped as far more of the wreck is found at depths of 5 to 25m, but it is nonetheless a great site to investigate with snorkling gear alone.

Branko and the team at Zero Gravity were great to deal with and delivered an awesome experience. From the moment of booking they communicated well. When it got to the day the pick-up driver was on time, the snorkelling instructor was knowledgeable and delivered an all round great experience.

We went out with Ferry from Zero Gravity diving for 2 days in April 2019 for private snorkeling. We had arranged to be picked up at the cruise ship and to go to Padangbai for 1 of the days and to Tulamben and Amed on the other day. The sites were a long drive from the cruise ship. Both Ferry and the driver were fantastic. Zero Gravity took care of all the arrangements which included boats from where the cars stopped to the snorkel sites and lunch. We hope to return to Indonesia and go out snorkeling with them again.
