The trip arranged by Euan was very good. We could not get the distilleries we wanted (ie Balvenie or Macallan) but the options provided by Euan was a good alternative. Our driver, Stephen, picked us up early at our hotel at 6:45am and started the long drive up. We went to Glenfarclas, Aberlour and Cragganmore distilleries. The Glenfarclas visit was my favourite as the guide shared a lot of information and we get to see the fermentation process in the mash tuns (that was so fun). Sadly Aberlour is upgrading its facility and so we only went for the tasting.

As we had a jam-packed itinerary, Stephan was nice enough to keep us on the clock so that we don't end up being late for the subsequent visits. After Aberlour, we were surprised that Euan had reserved a table at Dowan Hotel 57 (Speyside) for lunch and we had a fantastic meal there. As there was a bit of time, we made our way to Glenlivet for tastings and then head to Cragganmore for the distillery tour. It was a comfortable ride back and we reached Edinburgh slightly before 8pm.

Overall, we enjoyed the trip and do recommend Whisky Wheels. However, please do note that responses from Euan can be slow. There were regular email exchanges when we were finalising the trip details and full payment was made in March. However, there was nothing from Euan 1-2 weeks before the tour, despite sending emails and follow up chasers. I was concerned that this was a scam, and started reading the review comments. Fortunately, the reviews I read did reduce my anxiety as most of the reviews were good with the comment on communication with Euan. With that, Euan did finally send me the details a few days before the trip, and we did have fun that day.

Our driver was the best. Next time, I'll book direct instead of booking through a third party. With how much it cost, I was expecting more. Our driver gets 5 stars though.

This trip was horrible. We were picked up in a taxi after being told it would be a different vehicle. It was very uncomfortable. The driver barely spoke to us. Never pointing out what we were seeing along the way. The place they had planned for us to stop for lunch was closed so we had to backtrack to find a different place to eat. This put us about 45 minutes behind. This tour was over $1500 for 6 people. By far the most expensive we did on our 8 day trip and by far the worst. In the taxi, 3 of us had to sit on fold out seats-jump seats if you will. Horribly uncomfortable. The drive to and from the distilleries was beautiful but we had no idea what we were seeing because the driver didn’t engage in conversation at all. We did 6 different tours from Viator that were all wonderful, but this was just bad. Don’t recommend at all!!! Tomatin distillery was amazing. Ben Nevis was a total cluster as they had several bus loads of people they were trying to accommodate and were very rude to the 3 of us that just wanted a tasting. Singleton distillery was also wonderful but don’t waste your time at Ben Nevis.

I had an amazing tour with Euan's company. Our driver was Billy who was fun, funny, chatty and so informative. We had a couple of tight timelines but Billy made sure we got in to every spot we wanted to get into.

The ONLY downside to this was that our itinerary came late and I got a bit nervous. However, because it came in a little late, we were able to request a last minute change. Euan was extremely accommodating. It was fantastic to walk into a place, have our tasting scheduled. Billy did a great job guiding us through the different distilleries, highlighting different whisky.

The cost is very reasonable given the expense of renting a car and the time to drive between distilleries. The roads are a bit overwhelming. I will say, having a competent driver was fantastic. The roads can be a bit treacherous. Billy knew where he was going and often shared little trivia facts during the drive. Once you calculate the cost of a car, the fuel, the accommodations, the tastings, the actual cost is very nominal. They cover three tastings per days and anything more is out of pocket. It was unclear at first that Macallan was not included but I understand why. It is very expensive and honestly, I would skip it. There are so many other charming and warm places to visit. WW makes sure to highlight those places.

They drop you off for lunch (at your own expense) and both days were delicious! Obviously the locations change depending on your specific tour. The first day, we ate lunch in a beautiful courtyard filled with flowers. The food was superb. I didn't have to scramble to search a menu. It was so relaxing to get dropped off, have a great meal and relax.

When I think of everything we were able to experience, I was thrilled with the tour. We were able to go to a final independent distiller who was also able to ship whisky home. We just got back last Tuesday (as in 3 days ago) and our whisky is already here! 10/10 I would recommend this tour.

I have recommended this tour to several friends and family members.

Excellent tour with a lot of flexibility and no driving stress. We visited 3 smaller distilleries and in retrospect am glad we went down that route vs visiting a larger one. Our driver Mark was outstanding!!!

Disappointing experience- We were booked in to see 4 different sights- Invereray castle, a distillery tour at Glengoyne and whisky tasting at Deanston distillery. The driver Steve was very polite and friendly. We wanted to cover Glencoe, Loch Lomond, Inverness and a distillery. We were booked to go to Glengoyne and Deanston already but were unaware of the distance between Loch Lomond/ Glencoe and the 2 distilleries already on the itinerary. We were driven to see a few Lochs, Doune castle and Glencow but were not informed that we would miss the distillery tour if we travelled to Glencoe instead. I wish this had been mentioned as we would have done the distilleries instead. The driver though friendly, did not seem very keen to cover too many sights and arrived at the wrong hotel at 8am inspite of giving the right address, leading to a delay. I have done the highlands tour before and the small groups/ mini bus tours are better as they cover more sights. Although we wanted to cover Inverness, the tour operator/driver did not agree to drive to it as it was ‘too far’. Considering all the sights we saw, I dont think it was worth spending 4 times the normal amount.
PART 2- We booked a SECOND tour with the same tour operator via Viator to view a distillery. Although Viator confirmed the booking, it had apparently not reached the tour operator. Since it was our last day in Edinburgh, this was VERY disappointing as despite booking, there had been some miscommunication. I may not use Viator or this tour operator again. Calling customer care (Viator) to claim a refund was extremely difficult as the 2 people we spoke to, had trouble with communication and understanding English.
I have used Viator before and this was the first time I have been let down badly 2 days in a row.

My partner and I travelled to Scotland over New Years and decided that when in Scotland it was a must to do a distillery tour. We reached out to Euan and he prepared for us a wonderful 4 day Highlands Whisky Tour with some added attractions as well, as per our request.

The tour was seamless, great choice of distilleries, the distillery tours were brilliant and the chosen accommodation was lovely.

We were definitely thrilled with our tour and it was the highlight of our UK trip !

Fantastic Trip, very well organised. Much recommended

I've done previous tours cheaper like Rabbies - they get you there. You wait in a big long queue. Do a tour, do the obligatory 'tourist' tasting...

With Whisky Wheels, there was much more thought. Everything arranged before you get to the distillery (Which is helpful if you're drinking drams)
You're taken from place to place - when you enter, everywhere is set-up and ready to go.

We had a fantastic time and felt like we really got an 'insider' experience. The Whisky guide was also a great addition to the experience
