I don’t like leaving bad reviews but I feel people should be aware of the pitfalls and make their own decision.

Pick up is shambolic. It took 2 buses and 2 transit stops before we actually got to our third and final bus. This took quite some time I was lucky it was only about an hour and a quarter. There were some other people with us that had been picked up over two hours earlier.

The bus itself Is not particularly comfortable. It was full and as someone who is either 6 foot tall there was zero legroom. And it was hot

The bus driver was a crazy driver and took a lot of risks like flying up the shoulder to pass vehicles. At first, I thought this might be a standard practice in the country, but it appears not - he was just crazy.

There was absolutely no communication as to what was going on. We spent a lot of time waiting around for goodness only knows what?

The last time was waiting for our guide who despite being a nice guy could hardly speak English. I am not a cultural imperialist and expect everyone to speak English but the tour was advertised to be in English. The majority of people were Spanish speakers, but there were five of us who weren’t. He tried in his broken English and Google Translate to communicate, but it was useless. Thankfully, one of the Spanish speakers translated things that we needed to know - it was that bad.

The drive (mainly on good freeways) is long - made worse by the discomfort in the bus. I was surprised at how big the island is.

Santo Domingo is actually a lovely city especially the old parts. You don’t really see much of it. you do spend over an hour in some cave lakes which I thought were pointless, despite being attractive.

I would absolutely recommend Santo Domingo as a place to visit and wish we had more time. It was a very full day leaving at 7:30 and arriving back 12 hours later.

Make your own decisions based on this.

Starling canario provided a most excellent service! Professional and personable! He was a gentleman and stopped as requested. The minibus was clean and comfortable and I would strongly recommend this for those looking for a swift and enjoyable mode of transportation.
