Constructed in the 15th century, Chefchaouen’s Grande Mosque was built on the orders of Moulay Mohamed Ben Ali Ben Rachid, the son of the city’s founder. It features an octagonal minaret, which is somewhat unusual when compared to the many square minarets that generally tower over the nation’s myriad mosques. The shape was influenced by Andalusian styles, brought to the country by Muslims from Spain. Built from stone, the shades of brown and beige are juxtaposed against the nearby blue and white buildings. Admiring the mosque is among the top things to do in the city. This trip was amazing! Mohamed picked us up at the port, we stopped at a great little place for breakfast and made it to Chefchaouen by 10. The tour was a great mix of sightseeing, experiencing the culture, and relaxing at in the town square. After lunch we had plenty of free time before we headed back. On the return trip we stopped at Tétouan for some quick pictures, then he dropped us in the square with recommendations to kill time before the ferry.

Everything was wonderful!

Nouaman was our private tour guide and he was very accommodating to our needs, as not all of us were able to walk the entire journey through the whole city. Fortunately our guide was easy-going and flexible and put us at ease, while being very informative and answering all of our questions. We got to all our planned destinations on schedule, and had enough time at the end for lunch and free time.

The overall ride from Tangier and back from Chefchaouen was also pretty comfortable and punctual as well, in a well air-conditioned van, and we were provided plenty of water that would last our entire journey. Overall, a great private tour well worth the reasonable price, smooth and well-organized experience, would recommend to anyone thinking to visiting Chefchaouen and Morocco in general!

Our driver Monsif picked us up punctually at the agreed meeting point and took us safely to Chefchaouen with a short stopover for a typical Moroccan breakfast. In Chefchaouen itself, our guide Abdul was waiting for us and took us on a really great and interesting tour of this beautiful city and told us a lot about the history of Chefchaouen without getting bored. All in all, a very well organised trip with great guides - any time again!

Our tour guide Noaman was great in answering all our questions about Morocco and genuinely enthusiastic for us to enjoy our visit and fall in love with Morocco.

Nouaman was a WONDERFUL tour leader. We really enjoyed the tour. The time he took to show us and explain history, culture and people of Chefchaouen. Beautiful place to visit and excellent tour guide in the blue city. As a local he knew where to take us and many of the people. We had some confusion in finding our ride from our cruise ship, but once he found us Rayan helped us make up some lost time. He also took us to see a couple highlights in Tangier before returning us to the ship. Time and money well spent for this excursion!

Cruise trips can be quite frustrating as the port time can be quite short - and Chefchaouen is a bit far. This tour was really great - very flexible, good tour guides, and definitely can get back in time. Our guide Monsif hajji was helpful trying to give us enough time to spend in Chefchaouen as much as possible.
