Le Morne Brabant is a mountain of the south-west of Mauritius, on the peninsula of le Morne. Our team has been the first ever guides in 2004 to bring guests from all over the planet on this majestic rock. Declared World Heritage by UNESCO since July 6, 2008, the site is a sanctuary of the runaway slaves who would have committed suicide by jumping off the cliff of the mountain.
Le Morne Brabant is one of the most preserved and wildest mountains of the island. It is habitat to a very large variety of endemic and narrow-endemic species, such as the rare Trochetia Boutoniana, which is our floral emblem.
Some steeper parts of the ascent will require the use of our hands to progress safely towards the top, where we’ll discover the breath-taking views on the west and south-west lagoons and part of of the island !

We went on a guided tour up the Le Morne mountain and it was incredible! I highly recommend the trip, however don’t bother if you aren’t using the best your guide in Mauritius Yudish !!! Great guy, his knowledge of the island was impeccable and he managed to keep the mood light the whole time with his great personality and jokes ! If you’re going to go to the waterfalls, or the mountain, kayaking etc. use Yudish !

We did the tour with Yudish and he was very entertaining and shared informative facts about the surrounding nature and the history of the mountain with us. We can really recommend this tour with Yudish!

At sunrise we were already on the mountain to discover this magnificent light spreading over the island
Not only did he accompany us on the technical part of the climb but he also took the time to explain to us the history behind this mountain.
On the way he also shared with us his passion for medicinal plants naturally present on Mount.
The hike can be done without a guide (but not without danger!!) in this case believe me your experience would be very ordinary

Great day out climbing Le Morne Brabant with Yudish.
It is possible to do the climb without a guide, but we both agreed that booking a guide was by far the better option, especially with Yudish and his history of the island, easygoing demeanor, and and jokes so bad that they're good
We opted for the early start (06:50) so it wasn't too hot during the climb.
Yudish was easy to get along with from the off and made for a very entertaining guide, cracking jokes and singing tunes.
If you don't have a decent level of fitness or are afraid if heights/climbing you should probably avoid this one as the steep sections can be tricky even for those who hike regularly.
Wear good outdoor training or hiking shoes, but be aware the sticky mud will stick in your tread.
Views are stunning and the difficult sections are well worth it.
Would 100% recommend to any adventure seekers.

We started at 6:00 a.m. because our guide Daryeau Ramalingum explained that this mountain is very often visited and that you don't meet anyone at this time. It was a very beautiful hike through the nature of Le Morne, but you should wear sturdy shoes because the path is mostly made of slippery earth or rocks. You can't compare this hike to German hiking trails! You shouldn't be afraid of heights either, as you climb a large part of the hike on rocks. I would highly recommend a guide and not going off on your own. I recommend that anyone who wants to climb this mountain and learn about the nature and history behind this mountain contact Daryeau and do this hike with him. He is very experienced and will help you to get up and down this mountain safely and unharmed. He will also take photos of you if you want. He speaks very good English and French. Our guide Gilles was outstanding. So knowledgeable about the area and gave us lots of guidance on climbing safely. It got a bit scary as you scale a rockface for part of it but he was so reassuring and helpful that we all made it to the top. The views were amazing and worth it!

I booked a guided trip hiking up to Le Morne Brabant and well, it was most memorable hiking experience.
Le Morne Brabant definitely one of the most worthy spots in Mauritius to visit.
And of course many thanks to our wonderful guide Yudish. Incredibly friendly, supportive and knowledgeable person. He was very helpful throughout the trek and made sure each of participants had enough time to stop, catch a breath and continue. He made it very easy for the beginner like me to trek through some of the roughest patches in the trek. Really fantastic experience which was made by him. Big thank you Yudish for being you😉
