Guimarães, the birthplace of the nation and a UNESCO World Heritage site, exudes a medieval atmosphere with its 10th-century castle and 15th-century Ducal Palace. A stroll through the heart of the city's streets and squares will immerse you in the palpable charm and rich history of Guimarães. During our visit, we'll explore the imposing castle, admire the majestic Dukes of Bragança Palace, and wander through the historic center.

After a relaxing lunch break included in the tour, we'll continue our journey to Braga, known as the oldest Portuguese city and the religious capital of Portugal. For centuries, Braga has been a prominent archiepiscopal seat and pilgrimage site. Our exploration of Braga will include a visit to its 11th-century Cathedral, followed by a tour of the Bom Jesus Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage site nestled in the scenic hills surrounding the city.

Join us on our small-group tour to discover the most iconic monuments and exclusive spots in these historic cities.

Great time! The tour operator, Nuno, was fantastic. Braga was beautiful and Guimaraes was amazing. Nuno went above and beyond for our little tour. We were running late and he and the rest of the guests were very gracious.

Alvaro was an excellent guide - provided enough information about both cities, where it wasn’t overwhelming or felt lacking! As a person who enjoys history/architecture and quieter activities, I highly enjoyed walking and learning about both cities in this small group - 2 couples and 1 solo traveler (in addition to myself) during my booking. You are given some free time in both cities to walk around and buy souvenirs which is great! You also get a convent cake in Guimarães which was the best pastry I’ve had while here in northern Portugal! Lunch might be an issue for some if you’re a picky eater, since we were only given 3 options that you have to choose from, but the restaurant was nice and a lot of food is given (soup, salad, bread, appetizer, main course, and dessert). Just as a heads up, you can walk on the Guimarães Castle grounds, but not up into the towers as they are closed for safety remodeling after a tourist severely injured himself a couple months ago trying to take a photo, with no date on reopening (but I didn’t mind). The Braga Cathedral and Bom Jesus do Monte are very well preserved and amazing to look at/wander around, although bring comfortable walking shoes especially for the Bom Jesus as you need to walk up like 600 steps up to reach the top. This tour made me want to come back to Guimarães and Braga when I return to Porto again in the future!

Very nice day trip from Porto. Our private guide, Paulo, was amazing and very knowledgeable about the sites. The views from the top of the Braga cathedral were beautiful and the charming town of Guimarães was just perfect. Lunch was included and you will not go away hungry. To say it was delicious would be an understatement. We went with a group of friends and 2 teens and we all loved the trip. 100% would recommend.

I love both cities. The scenery is amazing. I was not keen about the food at the restaurant. You should choose a better one. Pedro is an excellent guide.

The cathedral was beautiful and overlooked a wonderful city. You will share lunch at a quaint outdoor cafe with your tour mates.
