he Archaeological Museum is located in the heart of Neaples and houses one of the most important collections of antiquities in the world, providing a complete picture of the Greek and Roman civilization in its various aspects. Inside you see the famous Farnese collection inherited by Charles of Bourbon, son of Elizabeth Farnese and last member of the dynasty, who conquered the Reign of Naples in 1734. Then your guide will show you the artifacts from Pompeii and the Vesuvius area.

We had a very in-depth and enjoyable private tour of the archeology museum with Ilaria. She guided us through its extensive collection and was able to answer all our questions. It was a really great tour.

Ilaria was our guide for not only the National Archaeological Museum of Naples but also Pompeii and Herculaneum. Her passion and extensive knowledge of that tragic event were amazing. I would highly recommend these tours with Ilaria.

We think this tour with Ilaria Fiore is a must do before heading to Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii, and/or Herculaneum. You make your way thru the Archeological Museum in a methodical, yet very engaging way, that prepares you for some of the most impactful events of history. Also, Ilaria does a very good job describing the “lasagna” layers of centuries that culminate in the Naples of today.
