This was a really wonderful tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable, and presented the history in an interesting and engaging manner. Akrivi, our guide, was also very conscious of the heat, and made sure we stopped in the shade as much as possible. We definitely appreciated Knossos more with this tour. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn about the history and the myths of the area!

This was a disaster. We were looking forward to this but it was a big disappointment. We rented a car so we looked up if there was a parking and there was but it was verry small. It is one of the most famous attractions of Crete and one of the most famous mythes of the greek culture, you would expect that it would be really good organised. It was one big chaos. Busses, cars and people were blocking eachother, it was even a bit dangerous. The shops on the other side of the street are really close to the street and with all the traffic there, it is also really dangerous. At the entrance you have a lot of possibilities to buy tickets but no one know where you need to be, there are no signs. Then at the entrance gate you don't know if it is an entrance for groups of for regular visitors, so again, chaos. The lines at the tickets ans at the entrance were enormous. When we could filaly enter the site. It was even more chaos. People were packed. A lot of groups crisscross through eachother, people in wheelchairs trying to go through, ... we couldn't see a thing. A bit furter on the site we had a bit more room to take some pictures but it was still verry packed. We dindn't had the chance to see the throneroom because it was waiting in line for almost an hour in the heat. So in a nuttshell it was one big disappointment!!!

Katerina was a great guide! Knossos would be very difficult to navigate without a guide, as they don’t even have information placards (from what I can remember) around the site. It was fun to have an archaeologist and historian bring everything to life. The site is not just a single palace but a large ancient city. Katerina also had photographs and told stories to help us understand this amazing place. The site itself is a very well-run tourist destination with a great cafe (with espresso!) and then souvenir shops on the outside street. It was also nice to skip-the-line as the lines get very long. The company did a great job being close to the entrance, and it was easy to find them. Note that the bathrooms do charge .50 euro. Also note that many of the paintings/murals/mosaics at the actual site are recreations and the originals are at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum (another must see!).

Good coverage of material for Greek mythology. Also offered a lot of insight into the “palace” itself. Perfect amount of time.

Tour was excellent and skip the line a must! Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and provided connection between history and mythology. She also did a great job of finding shade! TIP: try to get either an early morning or early evening tour to avoid heat and crowds

We were a group of 6 attending the tour with our guide Katarina, who told us she was an archeologist herself. Informative and much preferred to a self guided tour. The site was quite busy in May which is considered off season. Be prepared for crowds, bring your sunscreen, hydration and proper shoes as you will be walking outside on rough stairs and paths. Beware the cleaning crew in the women’s washroom was charging .50 euro to use the facilities. They were not charging in the men’s washroom so this seemed to be a bit of a scam.
