An initiation into the magic world of bread making for cooking, culture and nature lovers. Our aim is to connect the ritual of bread making with the modern lifestyle, in the context of historical continuity from the Stone Age until nowadays. Who would be better to host us, than a local “Mama” who loves tradition and is always in search of ways to evolve and an archaeologist with a passion for nature and agroecology?

Our guides, Christina and Ioannis, are fun, interesting, and knowledgeable to guide us through making bread and paximadia and to learn about the ingredients and the role these foods play in Cretan culture. It was a joy to spend time with Ioannis and Christina, and our experience also included a beautiful and delicious authentic Cretan meal and some music and dancing, which were quite a treat! What a special and rare opportunity for travelers. The team at Petassos provides cultural experiences that are not like all the other options! You will not be sorry for choosing this activity or any other that Petassos offers.
