Situated at the extreme southwestern tip of Mauritius, you will hike and climb to the memorial cross of Le Morne Brabant Mountain (UNESCO world heritage site), guided by our local and qualified mountaineer who is totally committed to safety, comfort and fun. Experience the first light of the day, followed by the magical sunrise with its golden colours which can be seen only at this time of the day.
The hike includes multiple rock-scrambling and climbing sections which can be tackled participants with little to no experience in mountain climbing. During the hike, you will learn about the unique flora and fauna of the island, the history of the mountain and the cultural aspects of Mauritius, accompanied by a local qualified mountain guide. You will also spot “Boucle d’Oreille” commonly known as Trochetia Boutoniana, the endemic national flower of Mauritius.

We absolutely loved the morning hike with Kevin. The views are absolutely stunning and we loved every minute of this. Kevin is, hands down, one of the best tour guides we've ever been traveling with. He has climbed that mountain over 800 times and literally knows every step. This was immensely helpful as the descent was quite slippery due to sudden rainfall. He brought the whole group down safely. He even took pictures of us while climbing and sent them to all of us afterwards. He also equipped us with headlamps and all the necessary safety instructions. And on top of things, he's just a super nice guy to chat with about the country, nature, traveling, etc. He's also happy to share travel tips for Mauritius with you and is not only after the money (he also recommended hikes we could do without guides). We can't recommend doing this trip with Kevin enough.

We hiked up the morne mountain today, it was q life changing experience! The guide Eric was a legend who guided us very safe to somethimes very steep pads. But all worth it in the end, the view and history behind this hike is amazing, the guide also thought us a lot about the history of this mountain and the stories around it. Overal very very happy with this experience!

We would recommend this trip to everyone visiting Mauritius. Kevin our guide was knowledgeable, sensitive and his priority was safety first. The whole experience was amazing and well worth the early get up.
You do need a reasonable level of fitness but plenty of belief in yourself, Kevin will guide you there safely and back. The highlight of our trip. ❤️

I did the Le Morne Hiking with Kevin as guide and it was absolutely fantastic! I highly recomend Horazis. It was one of the best hiking experiences I ever had.

What an amazing hike!!! The guides (Kevin & Eric) were great, and had lots of experience dealing with a mixed crow of fitness levels. They were also a wealth of knowledge regarding the history, fauna and flora of the area. Would do this hike again in a hart beat for the spectacular views from the top as the sun rises.

Clear recommemdation! It is a very special experience to start climbing LeMorne Brabant in the dark and experience dawn and sunrise on the go.
The trip consists of two „phases“: The first few kilometers are a hike on unpaved paths. The path offers great views again and again, so you can watch the dawn spread over the bay. The second phase includes very steep sections that require climbing. Kevin instructed us very well and made sure that everyone in the group got up safely and had a good time. We really felt his experience. On the more challenging sections he instructed us exactly which route to take and where to grip.
Once we reached the top, we were treated to a breathtaking view. Kevin took lots of great photos of us, so we have wonderful memories of this great experience. Thanks for that!
Timeline: we set off at around 5:00am and were back at the car at around 10:00am.
If you are considering whether to do the tour with or without a guide: we definitely recommend taking a guide. We go hiking a lot, but have no experience with climbing. Without a guide, we would probably have turned back because we wouldn't have had the confidence to tackle the climbing sections.
If you're undecided whether to do the tour at sunrise or later in the day: we definitely recommend the sunrise tour; we were the only group (4 people + guide) on the summit in the morning. When we descended, the path was quite crowded and it quickly became quite warm.
In conclusion: Thank you, Kevin, for this wonderful, unique experience!

Unfortunately, I cannot fully recommend this hike. The guide was not professional in his behavior and it detracted from the experience. Instead of caring about the needs of the group, he always put himself first and seemed complacent. Instead of engaging with the participants' experiences, he tried to belittle them by talking about his own adventures, which he thought were better. In addition, he made derogatory remarks about our country of origin, Germany, by pitying the people who would live there and criticizing life in the "hamster wheel" of the economy.
Despite these shortcomings, however, I would like to acknowledge that the guide took authentic pictures of the tour group and provided them free of charge. This gesture was commendable and deserves recognition.
Overall, however, the hike was disappointing due to the guide's unprofessional behavior. I can therefore only give two out of five stars.
