Whilst not the highest, the widest nor the longest, the Berlin Wall is probably the most famous of them all. And no trip to Berlin would be complete without visiting it and the other significant sites associated with it.
We will cover the fascinating period between the Second World War and the construction of the Berlin Wall when the uncomfortable alliance between the Soviets and Western Allies finally shattered, heralding the beginning of the Cold War.
what led to the construction of the wall?
what led to its fall?
what life was like on both sides of the Berlin Wall?
• Also we look and the many varied and ingenious ways people escaped and and visit a number of the specific escape spots.
• Our Guides have lead hundreds of tours on the Berlin Wall and Cold War and we have molded this tour from years of tour guiding experience and personal research. Whether you are a history buff yourself or just a curious traveler, we don’t think you will be disappointed. We will cover the Who, the Why, the When and the how and see how this history is relevant today

The tour itself was very informative but the trip advisor description needs updating as no where was it mentioned as a WALKING tour. We had a person in our group who was disabled and had a hard time walking. By the time he would teach the group the guide was done talking. It also says watch tower ticket entry was covered but we only saw watch tower from afar. It would have been helpful to have been told to bring euros for train. Luckily we had some on us when the guide told us we needed to purchase tickets. Once I took the tour I understood why it was walking and why we took the train. Fascinating and informative but update description so people know what they are getting into

This tour is a must-do if you want to learn all essential about Berlin's situation during the GDR and if you want to find out about the Berlin Wall. Julian was an outstanding guide who went above and beyond to explain everything to us and look after our group!
I can just highly recommend to book with them.

Kieran was an incredibly knowledgeable guide, made the history of the Berlin Wall come alive. Very engaging, incredibly patient and addressed every question (of which we had many) comprehensively and knowledgeably. One of the best tours I’ve ever done, highly recommended.

Extremely knowledgeable guide led us on a very interesting historical walk through what was once East Berlin before the fall of the wall in 1989. Our tour guide, being Jewish, gave us a perspective into what we were learning that we may not have otherwise received. Much historical value to the tour. As a history buff, would highly recommend.

Our tour guide was/is an interesting walking encyclopedia. Super interesting tour. And he easily guided the 3 of us (not known to each other) around from train to bus, Also helped us get to our next tour(s). Learned so much more on this walking tour than just facts about the wall. Highly recommend.

I don’t think there was any detail or historical point that our guide did not know. He gave us a fantastic tour and complete background. We started at Brandenburg Gate, discussed the Reichstag building, the situation during the era right after the war and then under East. German control. We traveled by U to the wall memorial area and saw just how much tine, effort, resources had to go into the “wall” to insure no one escaped. The reality was clear and horrifying. We visited the Jewish memorial and Check point Charlie also. Quite a worthwhile tour.
