Master Takeda and Iai-Mugairyu
Master Takeda Hougyoku is the head of the International Iaido Organization Hougyoku-kai. The largest mugairyu organization, and practices the purest, most traditionally faithful form of Mugairyu. He is recognized globally having received accolades from the Order of the Scottish Samurai and appeared in a promotion video given by Tokyo at an international convention.
You need years of experience practicing Iai before you will be able to safely wield a real sword. The use of a real katana by an inexperienced swordsman presents both the risk of injury to yourself and the participants around you and the risk of bending or damaging the sword.
Even if you have insurance, it is impossible to erase the damage of any accident that may occur. Therefore, to prevent any accidents and provide peace of mind for everyone – you, the other participants, the teachers, etc. involved, we will only use mock katana in this experience.

Great experience learning the history of the samurai, how to wield a sword and using it properly. Instructors were very patient with us and took their time explaining the steps and proper moves to move with the sword. We would do it again, no doubt!

Interesting experience. The master taught us the manner, meaning/symbol of the clothes, how to cut /posture to stand. His explanation is interesting, he also show us some challenges techniques.

Great experience with Master Hogyuku Takeda.
The paper head cutting was the highlight for the students.
Really bi small group and very convenient located to the subway

Such a great experience for my 12 year old. The gentleman is so skillled and highly trained . The Master Hogyoku is very calm and patient and skilled. Left my boy in awe !!! Truely a great experience!

I visited Japan with my partner and her family and had a session with Master Takeda and his students.
To call this experience amazing would not do it justice, all of the students there were extremely helpful, patient, and kind, especially with a six-year-old.
Master Takeda was warm, kind, and even joked with us while he and his students taught us the basics of sword use.
I cannot say enough nice things about this experience and highly encourage anyone who is visiting Japan to try it. You will not be disappointed and it is definitely appropriate for all ages. My partner's niece had an absolute blast and wanted to do more of it.

This was an amazing experience. We had a private lesson for the 5 which included my 3 boys ages 19, 21 & 23. We all loved it! They provided hakamas to wear and helped us get dressed. The swords we used were real. It was so much fun!!
