The ancient Roman city of Herculaneum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the slopes of Vesuvius. Smaller but no less important, buried by the eruption of Vesuvius 79 d.c. Naturally a prominent place was reserved for the mythical Hercules, the hero who according to tradition had founded the city of Herculaneum. Travelling on my own I decided that I wanted to visit Herculaneum and my experience on the trains earlier in my visit prompted me to look for a coach type tour.
I found this one and thought that it provided a good value with lunch and wine tasting also provided so I booked via tripadvisor and received confirmation that I had a place on the tour.
There was even a quick message from the tour provider sent to me via WhatsApp but unfortunately this was very quickly deleted.
About 3 hours later I receive another WhatsApp message telling me that my reservation had been cancelled.
This was then followed by an email from tripadvisor informing that my tour operator had to cancel my trip. And then a email from the tour provider via tripadvisor with the same information as the WhatsApp message saying my reservation was cancelled.
Was it because I am a solo traveller? Was it because I used a tripadvisor code?
The same tour was still available to book on tripadvisor for a few hours after my booking was cancelled.
Tripadvisor is now keep asking me to review my tour so this is the experience of my tour…. IT DIDN’T HAPPEN.
Hope that mine is an isolated incident but that is my experience I’m afraid.

Very overpriced. We only got 1.5 hours in Herculaneum and spent longer at the lunch where you were not told what you were eating or really given any explanation of the wines you were tasting. All a massive attempt to get you to buy some very overpriced wine. The guide was the one saving grace though he was excellent

Great guide (Angie) who accompanied us on the coach and excellent tour guide (Erica) in Pompeii. We all enjoyed the short but steep hike up Vesuvius.

We had booked small group skip the line, but the group was 50 people on a bus, and it was a lot of waiting time. Very inefficient. Would not recommend this to see Pompeii and Vesuvius,

Good tour value for money. Plenty of walking and climbing. Would have been better if pickup and drop off was from my centrally located hotel

The excursion was organised very good. Our guide Roberta from Sorrento show us everything from sightseeing for the short time we had . She was very kind and recommended pleases for drinks, lunch, ets. That was lovely trip.

We had Lucia as our tour guide, he was extremely thorough and incredibly detailed with his knowledge. This truly made the tour enjoyable and provided great insight into what we were experiencing. My recommendation would be to wear older shoes or bring a change of pairs for the hike up Mt. Vesuvius as shoes will get filthy.
Hotel pickup and drop off in Sorrento made this very convenient as well.

Great day trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius with guide, Emanuela! She was not only knowledgeable, funny and spoke fluent English, but she was also very pleasant. You could tell she really enjoyed her job. She gave wonderful tips about where to eat, use the bathrooms etc. Thanks again, Emanuella!
