Today's Vietnamese water puppetry is a unique variation on the ancient Asian puppet tradition.
The puppets are made out of wood and then lacquered. The shows are performed in a waist-deep pool. A large bamboo rod supports the puppet under the water and is used by the puppeteers, who are normally hidden behind a screen, to control them. Thus the puppets appear to be moving over the water. When the rice fields would flood, the villagers would entertain each other using this form of puppet play.

Good show. Best show ever. One of the signature shows when you visit Hanoi, Vietnam. Good street food, good location, just by Hoan Kiem lake.

Original show, on a pool, Vietnamese cultural aspects are represented with puppets. Set with exotic instruments that give it a magical atmosphere. recommendable

The show was fantastic, but we ended up paying more than we expected for the tickets. We had to use Viator since it was the only option for same-day purchase, but we later found out that other providers and the main gate offered significantly lower prices.

Having read the other reviews we looked for someone outside who might have our ticket. I saw a lady leaning against the wall, on her mobile, and eventually made eye contact and got my ticket. You then queue with everyone else to enter the theatre, up steps, a queue to get your audio. It doesn't take very long though. The show was interesting but I felt 50 mins was a little long.

We were told that the show was fully booked at the ticket counter and we had to contact the operator for refund. We were however contacted and accommodated in a show 90 minutes later. Thankfully we were around that area so we got to see the show eventually. This experience was after paying twice the actual fee at Viator.

Paid 3 times the price to guarantee the tickets and skip the line but once I got there and after much arguing and confusion they said show was sold out and I they didn't have my tickets even though I booked 2 days in advance.
Waste of time and money.
Now trying to get refunded...

Definitely not to take. Not only is the price 2x more expensive than on site (ticket at 100,000 dong = 3.71 euros) but in addition, you still have to queue to show your reservations and they will give you assigned seats and those furthest from the stage while there will be plenty of room in the room in much better places. We were in the last row, while the 4 rows after the VIPs were free and they keep them for those who take their place with them. A steal when we could have paid 2x less for 10x better

I paid for my ticket in Saigon thinking that the puppet show was in Saigon… I contacted the company to explain that I wouldn’t be in Hanoi until 1 week later but they refused to help and said that I would have to purchase another ticket…. Pathetic customer service to say the. Least

Spectacular show. Access without any problems, with the GYG voucher that is exchanged at the box office. The show is fun and very technical, it's really worth it.
