The distillery tour and mixology class was an exceptional experience recommended by a friend who had attended before. Our guide and mixologist, Raúl, was incredibly knowledgeable, making the tour both educational and engaging. The mixology class was a highlight, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment!

This tour was very intimate and did not feel touristy like some other rum distillery tours. Loved supporting a Puerto Rican business and the cocktails were amazing!

This was a very informative tour. Our guide was Octavio and he was awesome. We got to tour the original home on the property and the distillery. The tasting was the best part.

My husband and I did the Mixology Class at Ron del Barrilito. We grabbed complimentary cocktails while we waited. My husband tried a variation of an espresso martini and I had a fruity drink. We were impressed with the bartender’s skill and the quality of our drinks.

We were lucky because we were the only 2 on our tour. Our tour guide, Val, was knowledgeable and personable. We started by touring the former owner’s on site home. Then, we strolled through one of the rooms where the barrels age, which smelled delicious. After, we walked through 2 other rooms in the distillery and learned more about the rum making process.

Finally, it was time to mix drinks! We started with old fashioneds. My husband and I usually don’t like them, but ours tasted great! Our next drink was the Encanto. It was fruity and included rum, Kiki puree, and lime juice. My husband and I agreed that it was our favorite. Our last drink was a classic piña colada, which was tasty and refreshing. All the drinks we made included generous double pours. Val was patient and explained the directions and modifications we could make well. At the end, we earned customized Mixology Course certificates!

My husband and I toured another distillery earlier in the day, but we agreed that Ron del Barrilito was our favorite due to the more personalized experience, the ability to tour the distillery, and the value for what you get. If you can only do one distillery tour on Puerto Rico, I recommend that you choose Ron del Barrilito!

My partner and I had a great time on this tour. First 30 minutes spent touring the plantation and factory. Second 30 minutes was a mixology class. Made/drank 3 drinks…had a blast and learned a lot. If everyone in your tour plans to drink, I recommend an Uber. I also recommend arriving 30-60 minutes before your tour time because you receive a token for a welcome drink (which you can take on the tour), but after the mixology class you have consumed 4 double shot drinks. Pro tip: bring tumblers/water bottles you can take what you aren’t able drink.

Overview: This is a fantastic, relatively intimate (our tour was 14 adults) tour with an interactive, personalized class on mixology (that is, making proper cocktail drinks!). If you enjoy rum, enjoy drinking, enjoy history, enjoy talking to new people and seeing the countryside, then GO TO RON DE BARRILITO. Also, don't tell the others. They're waiting in line at Bacardi for the massive Walmart level crowds while Barrilito is laid back, chill, and mature.

The Good:
* Intimate tour
* Mixology class where you MAKE THREE FULL SIZE DRINKS FOR YOURSELF
* Excellent bar/drinks, YOU GET A FREE DRINK TOKEN, so 4 total drinks are INCLUDED in the price!!
* Excellent rum that you can ONLY find in Puerto Rico, period. We bought ours at the airport so we didn't have to check a bag, but it's the same price in the airport. FYI. In fact, it's cheaper in the airport if you buy 2x bottles.
* If you're big into rum or want to try to re-sell highly exclusive bottles, the 4-star ($300) and 5-star ($750) are ONLY ever available at the distillery and are worth more than this outside of Puerto Rico..... If I knew a good place to re-sell, I would have bought some 4/5 star to sell.
* FANTASTIC staff. Our tour guide OCTAVIO was fantastic! What a joy to have a passionate local here to tell us about one of the best parts of Puerto Rico. The bar tender HAROLD was great! He mixes a fantastic drink. The front desk greeter NAHIR was super kind and fun. She made us feel welcome and comfortable literally from the second we walked in the door.

The Bad (there really isn't anything actually bad, but I always include this section):
* If you don't have a car, there's a $25-ish Uber ride out here. No big deal in my opinion.
* You might not be able to walk back to your Uber after 4 FULL SIZE DRINKS. Sit at one of the tables, sip, chat, enjoy, don't rush it.

The Ugly (this is a section I always put in my reviews, but.....):
* Nothing. There's nothing ugly about this unless the Bacardi cruise boat people find out about it and ruin it with crowds. It's perfect as it stands right now. Honestly, I'm hesitant to write this review. Maybe don't tell anyone, please? If you're on a cruise PLEASE don't tell anyone. Let this be what it is!

Great tour and history of the oldest rum distillery in Puerto Rico. Which also happens to be in my opinion one of the best rums made in all the world.

My husband, adult son & I were recommended to take this mixology tour & it did not disappoint.
Pedro, our tour guide was friendly, professional & knowledgeable with explaining the history of the company & giving us a tour of the grounds.
The grounds & buildings are lovely, & we arrived a little early, as suggested, to enjoy a complimentary drink beforehand, which is included in the tour.
The highlight, of course, was the mixology class itself. We learned to mix 3 drinks, which we then get to enjoy. It was lot of fun, but beware, it can hit you fast. 😬 The rum is very good!
I would recommend this tour to others.

It was wonderful. Their rum and cocktails are artfully crafted. I loved the mixology tour because you learned of the history and being the first rum of Puerto Rico as well as an easy craft cocktail lesson....you receive 4 cocktails so expect to take your time and spend the afternoon with new friends.

Our tour/class was so much fun. It started with one of the distillery’s signature cocktails 🍸. I chose one that was coffee based, a rum espresso martini. Truly delicious. Then we toured the house and distillery. We finished up learning to make three cocktails. 🍹. Then it was time to drink!
