Get a dose of history, culture, and nature during this 6.5-hour tour to Montserrat from Barcelona. With your guide and small group of 8 or fewer people, explore the Basilica of Montserrat, take the glass-top St. Joan funicular to the middle part of the Montserrat mountain range, then spend a pleasant 2-hours hiking past authentic "hermitages" (retreats) where the first inhabitants of Montserrat gathered more than a thousand years ago. The tour ends at the monastery and a drive back to central Barcelona.

My favourites were the views of the mountsides from the trail accessed by the tram. The cool crisp air was invigorating.

Nice visit to the monastery and mountain, and a great (easier) hike. Our guide showed us lots of interesting things along the route and had lots of information throughout the tour. Would definitely recommend.

What a challenging and amazing hike with beautiful views. Fermi took us beyond the normal hike all the way to the top of one of the mountains. He provided great information on the Monastery. He gauged our ability levels and asked how far we wanted to push ourselves. There were some challenging and strenuous sections, and the views were amazing. One of the best parts of our long vacation.

As part of our trip to Barcelona, our travel agent scheduled a half day hike of Montserrat for my wife and I. We were picked up at our hotel in Barcelona, and made the trip to Montserrat about 45 minutes away. Not sure what to expect, we set out with our two guide (Fermi and Frank) on the Western face of the mountain. Having singled us out as "being in good shape", we embarked on the hike of a lifetime, pushing us physically, for an amazing day. Steep climbs were rewarded with amazing views. Our guides were kind and made us feel safe, in addition to providing water and orienteering advice. On our descent, we had a wonderful lunch on a mountain crag with views to die for. The descent was as exciting as the ascent, and the hike is one that we will always remember.

Wonderful walk. The scenery is breathtaking and Cinto was amicable and knowledgeable about the area. Being picked up and dropped off from the hotel made this such an easy day. An uplifting place to visit.

I signed up for the group hike but it ended up just being myself and Fermi. From the beginning, Fermi was very welcoming and outgoing and made sure to point out certain landmarks on our way to Monserrat. Once there, we took a tour of the monastery and then made our way up the funicular to the top. We were lucky enough to see a herd of mountain goats so we made our way to the top of the mountain to get a better glimpse. The views are absolutely stunning. Fermi made sure to point out different aspects of the trail and the area, as a whole, which was much appreciated. As we descended, it became a bit more difficult but we made it down the mountain. I would caution beginners or people with limited mobility to tell Fermi up front so he can tailor your hike to your needs. I'd rate my hike as moderate to difficult which I did not expect, but none the less enjoyed the challenge which only made it more fun. If you are in BCN for an extended stay and want to take a break from Gaudi and the city life, I highly recommend taking in nature and the stunning views of Montserrat with Fermi-he's a pro!
