Let me tell you stories that affected thousands of people in our country during the dark years of WW2. Stories of Nazi occupation and Hitler’s arrival at Prague Castle in March 1939. Stories of the Czech Jews deported to concentration camps and ghettos. Let me tell you the story of Reinhard Heydrich, a high-ranking German Nazi, who became a governor of the Czechs in 1941 and was killed by two brave Czech soldiers. There are only a few tourists who know about this, became one of them.

This tour is NOT POSSIBLE to do on Mondays and Saturdays (closing dates of museums we visit). Let me know your preferred date.

Fell in love with the city of Prague - all thanks to Jana! She led an incredible tour of the city and was super accommodating based on our timeline and areas of interest. Jana smartly started us at the top of the hill near the monastery and we worked our way down through the city! She did a great job of explaining the history of every building, every walkway, every bridge - even the Castle lights. Did you know the Rolling Stones paid to have the Castle lit up at night? I did not. Jana naturally did! All in all, I cannot recommend Jana enough! Thanks again!

Jana made Prague come alive. She had a wealth of knowledge that included history of Old Town, Prague Castle, Charles Bridge & Jewish Ghetto with how WWII changed it all. Jana had early access for private tour of Strahov Library which is not to be missed. Her personal experience of living through the Soviet Occupation made this tour the highlight our trip to Prague.

I visited Prague for approximately a month and took two tours in one day with Jana to learn about
WWII and the Czech Republic. We spent the morning touring in the city on foot, had a nice lunch, and spent the afternoon/early evening at Terezen, the nearby Jewish Ghetto and museums, and Lidice (the village destroyed in reprisal for the assassination of Heydrich.)

I must admit I had high expectations as I had previously researched these subjects and places extensively. Jana met and exceeded those expectations in every way. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to tell me so much I did not know. When I met her that morning, I felt instantly comfortable and she graciously answered all my questions throughout the day. In addition to her high level of education on the subjects she covers, Jana is very personable and kind. You can tell she really wishes for you to have a high quality experience. For the non walking part of our day, Jana arranged for a great driver to take us and there was even WiFi in the car. As others have mentioned in their reviews, she adds personal touches that make the tour even better, such as bringing a candle for you to light in the crypt in the Church of Saint Cyril.

Although the subject matter was tough, touring with Jana was truly the highlight of my trip. She was also able to help me find information about possible living relatives in Prague, for which I am so thankful. I felt truly enriched by the time I spent. I usually prefer to explore without a guide, but I am very glad I made the decision to instead be guided by Jana for this part of my visit to Prague. I know I would not have come back with the same level of knowledge and insight had I not. I also would not have known I could walk in the tunnels at Terezen or that I was looking at the cell that once held the man who started WWI, among other things.

Jana also provides a set of relevant and helpful maps and brochures I continued to reference throughout my trip. I will definitely be going on more tours with her in the future as she offers many. My advice to anyone considering a tour with Jana is not to hesitate for a moment and make sure you get your booking completed well in advance of your trip so you do not miss a great opportunity.

One last observation I wish to share is that there is no certification process to be a tour guide in Prague. As I returned to some of the places I went with Jana (specifically standing in front of the clock tower in Old Town Square), I actually overheard other guides with large groups giving information that was not entirely correct. You can be confident this will not happen on a tour with Jana. She is actually an expert with the education, background, and experience to give you accurate and valuable information and easily handles questions without relying on a canned script. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this experience. If you are on the fence about it, go ahead and book a tour. You can’t go wrong with Jana leading the way.

Jana led an exceptional tour! I was able to book her for a tour about the complicated history of Prague during WWII and she explained all this while showing me the exact places events occurred. I did not know much about the Czech Republic's heroic efforts or the price it paid, but Jana was fantastic and took time to answer all my questions. I loved that she brought a memorial candle and matches in her purse so that in the crypt of the church of St. Cyril and St. Methodius, I could light a memorial candle to one of the heroes who lost their lives there in the fight against the Nazis. At the end of the tour she gave me a bag that held a map, the names of movies and books about the Czech resistance, and more useful information for my time in Prague and for later. My trip to Prague would not have been complete without this stellar tour!

We did a last minute trip to Prague and luckily Jana had an afternoon free to show us the city. She had been recommended to us by a family member who highly recommended her after spending parts of three days with her last Xmas. It was perfect. Much better than a group tour where you are trying to get close enough to hear, and seeing things that are not necessarily of interest to you. She asked us what interested us and then also made suggestions of places to visit. Got to wander through parts of the city and hear the history. Great history and stories told in a casual and topical way that brought the City to life. Thanks Jana! Hope to return to this beautiful city one day.

My Dad and I were in Prague and since I'm a huge WWII buff, I was interested in a tour that would take us around to some of the important WWII sites: to Terezin, Lidice and to Panenské-Brežany specifically. I found Jana's site and I'm very glad I did: she provided an amazing tour for a fantastic price. She took us everywhere we wanted to go and taught us both a ton----even as somebody who has spent a long time studying WWII, I learned a lot. She's a wonderful guide and if you're in Prague, I would highly recommend her!

We had the most memorable day in Prague with Jana. We ask for a day of "what would be different than local tours". We had the most interesting time at Jalta hotel on the Wenceslas Square. The museum of cold war 😉 Also, at the Monastery library was very special. Highly Recommend using Jana! Hope to go back and do more learning.

We met Jana 2 yrs ago in Prague when we were on a Viking River Cruise & new if we returned we would want her to be our private guide for a day. We saw the amazing Strahov Monastery & Library. It was an unbelievable experience. Our walking tour was easy paced & included riding the public transportation system. Fun, Fun, Fun!! Jana is a walking history book of Prague & the surrounding area, so glad we got to spend the day with her!!

I was fortunate to have Jana Michalcova as my guide for a walking tour of Prague. She knows her city inside out, and shares its history and daily life with expertise - and great humor. At the end of the day, I felt like Jana was a good friend as well as a tour guide. With some guides it seems as if you're getting a recorded lecture. With Jana, it was a personal conversation!

We were a group of 8 guys for our forum retreat in Prague. Jana helped us ahead of the trip and helped make all our restaurant and activity reservations.

Her knowledge of Prague's history is great. We really enjoyed the guided tour of the Prague Castle and the Jewish quarter with her.

We wish we had more time to see some of the other sights in Prague
