Full Day Tour to Machu Picchu from Cusco

My older mom and I went on this trip and Miguel was our guide. Miguel was a stellar guide for his knowledge of Incan history and Machu Pichu. But what set him apart was how accommodating he was for my mom, who is in good shape, but Machu Pichu is an obstacle course even for the simplest route. Miguel always found spots for her to sit and rest while he gave his explanations.

Also, be aware that this is a very long day with a lot of time spent in vans, trains, and buses.

Roiy was great guide. I loved that he dispelled myths that everyone hears about Manchu Picchu. Additionally, everything about the tour went smoothly - drivers were on time, tickets were available and properly identified travelers, and the estimated round trip time of 16 hours was dead on.

I travelled with my sister and wasn’t sure we would be able to tolerate the altitude. We are both in our 70s and everyone else in our small group was under the age of 40. Our guide Roy was attentive making sure that we all were successful in seeing Machu Picchu. In addition he was an excellent teacher in explaining the history of Machu Picchu from its origins to its “ discovery”. It was clear to see his pride in educating his group and sharing his culture. In addition he was an awesome photographer giving the group tips on how to take perfect shots to capture the experience.Anyone wanting to see Machu Picchu should sign up with Machuicchu Inka Trek and ask for Roy for a memorable experience.

First of all, I had been wanting to do this trip for the longest. I am so happy I went during June because it was the perfect weather. I went with my mom and my bestie. Our tour guide was named Roy and he met us at the entrance of Machu Picchu. He was fantastic! Had tons of knowledge to share about the Incas and you could tell this was his passion. He’s had over 18 years of experience taking visitors across Machu Picchu. He was also very patient and went at a very friendly pace for us gals. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn more about this historic wonder. Muchísimas gracias Roy, nos encantó todo el paseo. He also took the best pictures :)

Tour bien organizado, nos contactaron vía WhatsApp y se cumplieron todos lo horarios, todo es bastante rápido ya que los horarios son ajustados si quieren algo más relajado les recomiendo no hacerlo en un día, nuestro guía Roy fue excelente ayudándonos con fotos y su guía fue bastante entretenida y logro capturar y despejar muchas cosas con respecto a esta maravilla antigua.

Please note that you cannot choose the circuit in which you are booked in. We ended being booked for Circuit 4 + Huchuypicchu. Huchuypicchu is a brief hike, but extremely steep. While I consider myself to have a moderate fitness level, I do have chronic diseases that makes this hike inappropriate. We also did not get to see the ‘classic’ view of Machu Picchu. The girls whom were also on the tour (whom I did not know prior) felt the same and asked our guide about the circuit. Our guide did not answer the question. He also told us to get in the wrong line, which made us about 20 minutes late getting in to the site. He also kept disappearing at random times throughout the tour.

This tour was ok - given the price I think one could find better options. The time of the tour changed to what was communicated (from 5am to 3:30am). The guide was more of a trekking guide rather than a tour guide and gave generic information of the area - I learned more by listening in to other tours as they passed by. It is a small group tour so that was good - you won't be with a huge group. We had small kids but the guide was not really skilled at including them (other guides on other tours we had did a great job at this). The guides also kept changing and it was confusing who was going to meet us at what point, which is challenging in crowded tourist areas. Machu Picchu was still magical to visit but another tour would probably have been better for us.

This tour was overall amazing — Rony and Roy were fantastic. Roy was our tour guide through Machu Picchu and had such wisdom and passion - while also being fun! There was a scheduling snafu at the beginning, but it was immediately reconciled above our expectations thanks to Rony. We highly recommend this excursion!

We enjoyed our tour very much! The information our guide provided was very educational and inspirational. We loved how our guide could provide a worldly view of Machu Pichu. Additionally, he was great at providing us with the best photo and video opportunities to help share our memories. Highly recommended!
