The trek day was amazing! We loved it. It was a tiny bit challenging sometimes, but in a rewarding way, mainly because of the altitude. But we felt really well taken care of, enjoyed fantastic views, the quietness that is so hard to find around CDMX and also learned a lot about nature and Mexico in general. The meet and greet with the volcanos, trees, birds was fantastic!

Terrible tour operator Arnulfo. I got sick the previous day of the tour and requested the tour operator to move my tour date by 2 days so I can still do the tour while I'm still in Mexico City once I feel a bit better. Tour operator was so adamant and would not accommodate or help me in any way. It's just about money for them and not about keeping the customer happy or providing good service. Just horrible.
Viator said they can refund me if the tour operator agrees or if I provide medical certificate, later they just refused they even said this and refused me to give a refund.
Horrible experience

This was a breathtaking hike through multiple different landscapes. The hike itself wasn't too strenuous, but the altitude is very high so I had to catch my breath a few times, and I am a fairly young and active hiker. Cesar was the best guide! He was attentive and informative and overall very fun to hike with. He was great at letting us know what to expect. The best part was the different landscapes that we hiked through - mountains, forests, creeks, and waterfalls. I also liked how accommodating they were by providing trekking poles, snacks, even a rain poncho. The lunch and dinner that were prepared were also delicious. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Fernando was a terrific tour guide who provided us not only with interesting background about the trail and local flora/fauna, but also was kind and engaged in fun banter. This is one of those trips where if you are looking at this, you likely should book it!

We did the longer trail and it was not a particularly difficult. Our group of ~6 people had a couple who had some early issues due to the altitude, but it just meant moving a bit more slowly (which was fine, since the scenery is great!). If you consider yourself a "hiker", this won't be an issue at all. If you simply like walking around outside, this will make you feel accomplished, but not leave you totally gassed.

A+, would do again!

Great hiking and good viewpoints. Had a fun group to share the hiking with. Alberto and Carla were great guides and saw Popocapetl smoking. Bring good shoes, parts were muddy/icy.

Hiking, photos of peaks, beautiful plants and waterfalls - lots to love! Carlos, our guide, was friendly, warm and an excellent guide through the terrain and the day's events. As he will tell you, take your photos early in the day because the afternoons tend to be cloudy. The day called for rain, but the forecast improved once we set out -- Carlos offered everyone on the trip the opportunity to reschedule their hike, but we all decided to continue. I really appreciated that assurance being built into the trip. Finally, a tip: the elevation may be challenging, especially if you are coming from a low altitude environment: pack Advil and schedule the trip in a few days after you arrive in Mexico to give your body time to adjust. enjoy! :)

This was a fabulous hike! Around 11 km (or 6.8 miles) it's not too intense but the elevation in general can feel difficult for some. Our tour guide, Carla, was very kind and knowledgable, and let everyone take breaks whenever they needed to. We were provided with backpacks, trekking poles, water, gatorade, a sandwich, apples, and lots of snacks. They planned the trip very well and I would definitely do another with them!

I went on the Trekking Through the Volcanoes tour with Mexico Travesias guide Alberto and 4 other trekkers this Sunday (10/29/23). The tour was well organized from the meet-up, with good explanations about what was going to happen, and realistic expectations about the trip. This included an honest warning that traffic would likely be extra heavy due to the F1 race (which it was!). We made one stop on the way to the volcanoes for restrooms and to buy breakfast/snacks, if desired. We were provided with backpacks with a bottle of water, bottle of Gatorade, sandwich, apple and a couple of other snacks. We were also given trekking poles. It was cold at the beginning of the dat, so I was glad I brought a fleece and a rain jacket, but I did end up warming up and taking them off after 30-45 minutes. I am a moderate runner who regularly exercises at least 3 times per week (at sea level), and in the altitude, I did find it difficult to catch my breath after going uphill for just a few steps. Alberto did a great job giving us many breaks, checking on us frequently, and monitoring us for signs of altitude sickness. I think we spent about 5 hours hiking, although I am not exactly sure, since I was paying more attention to the beautiful views. I reapplied sunscreen twice, but should have done even more frequently, as I still got slightly sunburnt! After the hike, we stopped at an outdoor roadside restaurant to eat tacos and quesadillas, which were included in the price of our day. The drive home took over 2 hours due to the extra F1 race traffic, but it was ok since I had been warned! The day was totally worth it! I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to get out of the city and see the volcanoes but has not trained beforehand or does not want to hike at a grueling pace!
