Discover Kyoto at it's most magical hour as the sun rises over Japan's historic treasure of a city. Take a magical walk through the thousands of red gates at Fushimi Inari shrine and visit a nearly empty temple, then onto the bamboo grove.

This experience is perfect for those who naturally rise in the early morning, or for those who just want to have a unique experience and don't mind getting up early for it. It can also be an amazing way to take advantage of your jet lag!

Along the way, we give you insights about Buddhism, Japanese garden design, history and more. We are also happy to help you with any questions you have about Kyoto or Japan and can even help you plan your days ahead. Beat the crowds on the Original Early Bird Tour of Kyoto.

The tour was everything that was promised. Milo was interesting and fun and told lots of stories about the temples on the walk. The early start was great because we escaped the crowds and the heat. I recommend the tour for anyone who wants to learn more about temple history and culture.

This has been one of the best walking tours I've had the opportunity to attend. The history and the scenery are breathtaking. Milo (our guide) was personable, engaging, and outstanding throughout the entirety of the tour. He gave direction and encouraged us to partake in the various rituals/prayers located throughout the shrines. I honestly can't recommend him and this tour enough.

This experience is not a good value at all! Waste of my time and money personally. I could have done it for free on my own. You can Just wake up early morning and visit the 2 landmark temples in Kyoto.

Also, my guide was not very helpful with my pictures. As a solo traveler I would really appreciate if the guide would take my photos at the temples. Specially, because it was just me and a couple (3 people total). Then, one person in the couple stayed behind (because she didn’t want to walk). So it was just 2 people in my tour for half of it. Yes, this tour is a LOT walk. Which I am personally fine with it. But if you are out of shape I would totally skip it.

The guide had plenty of opportunity to take my pictures without interrupting the tour, but he seemed annoyed when I asked. I ended up going back to the same temples the next day with another tour guide that I met from another tour company few days prior, and The other guide took great pictures of me at the same temples.

Again, waste of time and money!

Canadian Kevin was a great tour guide. He led our family of 6 all around Kyoto, stopping at a variety of beautiful locations and explained all about the history of each location. He went at a very reasonable biking pace to accommodate for all of my family members' physical abilities. He was very kind, shared many stories about Japanese culture and answered all of our questions. He also offered to take photos for us and took us to a wonderful Japanese curry restaurant for lunch. We would highly recommend Kevin for a tour!

Tour guide and owner Niall was amazing and informative. We had such a great morning out seeing the shrines and the temples before the crowds.

Niall is very knowledgable and loves Japanese culture which you can tell from his love on the tour.

I will definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting Kyoto.

Phillipe brings an international perspective to his presentation of Kyoto. Easy-going, flexible, and very knowledgable. The early start time is great, seeing the most interesting venues before they are too crowded to enjoy.
