We visited Mt Etna yesterday and had a fantastic experience. Our guide Marcello Alba was very engaging, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He was very attentive and responsive to our groups needs. He has an incredible knowledge of the history and geology. We highly recommend this small group tour. Especially if you can have Marcello as a guide. He provided us additional tour recommendations for our stay in Sicily. He undoubtedly be a wonderful guide on any tour, especially eco related, as he has many experiences, skills and knowledge. Also a wonderful and engaging personality.

Great Etna tour with guide Rosario. We were picked up at 9am in Taormina and drove in a very comfortable minibus to around 2,100m to enjoy the landscape and visit the craters. On the way we also climbed into a lava cave and received lots of interesting information from our guide about the formation of the volcano and past eruptions. There was plenty of time for breaks and lunch on the mountain. We were back in Taormina around 4pm. We would go back anytime - especially with Rosario, who inspires enthusiasm with his knowledge :)

Fantastic tour with an amazing guide! Loved GianFranco and his easy demeanor. Super knowledgeable and experienced with all facets of the day. All five of our family members (ages 15-55) commented on the day as a highlight of our visit to Sicily…!

We did a private jeep tour of Mount Etna with Marcello as our guide. We were picked up at our hotel which made it very easy and gave us a chance to learn some basic facts about and history of Etna along the way. Marcello was a fantastic guide - very knowledgeable about the geography, geology and history of Mount Etna and clearly passionate about the area. He showed us relatively recent lava flows, inside a cave (where he provided helmets and flashlights) and then led us on a hike on the mountain. At Marcello's suggestion, we even had a picnic on the edge of a crater which was fantastic. Marcello quickly picked up on our abilities so the hike was challenging for us but not overwhelming. He knew some great shortcuts too! I would highly recommend seeing Etna in this way - the huge buses just could not provide the same experience.

This tour was definitely worth taking. Being picked up and dropped off at our hotel was a must for us. Our guide Tiziana made us feel at ease straight away and her knowledge of and passion about Etna is superb. She explained so much to us and went above and beyond.

Gianfranco the guide showed up promptly at 9am to start. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and his English was very good. I tried to speak to him in Italian and he was appreciative of the effort. Gianfranco was explaining everything Etna even on the journey there showing evidence of past lava flows en route. We stopped at a honey farm/ olive farm store to sample honey and olives prior to going off road and going up to 900 m for a walk right beside a huge historical lava flow. From there we stopped at a Lava flow cave where he lead us below and showed us the amazing lava cave. upon reaching the car and bus limit at 2000m, he walked us through 3 craters and explaining everything beautifully. He had suggested not taking the cable car up to the 2950m summit as it was very cloudy and the winds were swirling and visibility could change very quickly. he did bring us to a flat clearing at the side to view the summit once the clouds quickly cleared. Bravo to Gianfranco thank you for making a great memory.

Or tour guide Gianfranco was superb. He took us on a hike around Mt. Etna before bringing us to the tram. He accompanied us up to the top and was able to give the history of the different eruptions but also great detail about the volcano itself. He was engaging, informative and made for a great companion.
Highlight of the trip was the excursion through a volcanic cave! Highly recommend.

Could do with some better instruction on how to prepare for the trip, we were not suitably dressed which detracted from the experience.
4X4 suggested to me there might be some kind of off road element to the tour, but you just traverse the mountain the same way as everyone else.
Guide was nice, but spoke very fast and at great length so was hard to absorb any information/ask questions. Also, he decided to join us for lunch when might have been nice to give us some space and then decided it was good table manners to dry his sweaty shirt on one of the free chairs at the restaurant table.
