Beati Paoli is the name of a secretive sect thought to have existed in medieval Sicily. The sect, as described by the author Luigi Natoli in his historic novel I Beati Paoli. Whereas the novel is fictitious, Sicily's history bears some evidence that the Beati Paoli actually existed.

The Cathedral of Palermo is the most important monument of the “Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale” site inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO on 2015. The Cathedral of Palermo was founded by Gualtiero Offamilio, archbishop of the town from 1169 to 1190. It was a mosque in Islamic times and converted into a cathedral church by Roberto the Guiscardo after the conquest of Palermo. Its exclusive elements are the inlays and the architectural and sculptural plastic that reflects the penetration of Romanic art and the first Gothic decorative taste in Sicily.

Quattro Canti, or Vigliena square, is the name of the octagonal square in the intersection between the two most important streets in Palermo: via Maqueda and Cassaro (corso Vittorio Emanuele). Ancients sources refers about it as “Octagon” or “Sun’s Theatre”, because during the daylight almost one of the façades is lighten by the sun. The “Four Corners” were realized from 1609 until 1620. The shape of the square is an octagon and it’s placed in the middle of the ancient city as a perfect point of connection between the four most important districts of that period which are: Kalsa, La Loggia, Capo e Albergheria. The four façades of the buildings have four different levels. In the lowest one it is possible to see the fountains as the symbols of the four old Palermo’s main rivers: Oreto, Kemonia, Pannaria, Papireto; in the next level are shown the allegories of the four seasons represented by Eolo, Venus, Cerere and Bacchus; the middle part is decorated by the statues of Carlo V, Filippo II, Filippo III, Filippo IV; and in the last order there are the illustration of the four saints of Palermo before the arrival of Saint Rosalia (1624): Agata, Ninfa, Oliva e Cristina.

The Capo Market is the best and traditional old market in Palermo. Here you find only local fruit, vegetables, meat and fish. Here we stop to taste the street food of Palermo.

Absolutely worth time and money! The guide was engaged and balanced well the talk with the walk duration. Told interesting stories with some fun facts while strolling through historical Palermo center - was very attentive. The street food tasting was just enough and with various types.
Our whole family of 4 with 8/11 yrs old kids enjoyed it 😀

Excellent tour and Fabrizio was amazing. Very knowledgeable, personable, and made sure everyone stayed included and having fun. The food was perfection, I would absolutely do this tour again and anything that Fabrizio was guiding!

An enjoyable few hours learning about Palermo and tasting the street foods of the city. A nice pace with stops to offer breaks in the tour. Opportunity to try a unique dish if you wish to get out of your comfort zone, or pass.

Awesome tour of Palermo. Fabrizio, being a Palermo native, knew the city inside & out. We saw sights we never would have seen on our own and tasted many Palermo delicacies. Highly Recommended!

Fabrizio was brilliant. We met and set off on time. Fabrizio is an amazing guide ... a Palermo native. He was so welcoming, funny and knowledgeable. It was so much more than a food tour....we learnt so much about the history of Palermo and Fabrizio was more than happy to answer all of our questions. The Capo market was great...my husband tried the Vastedda!! I wasn't as brave! We didn't manage ti get into the Cathedral as there was a wedding on that day (they don't publish the weddings so it's a case of turning up and hoping that there aren't any ceremonies on).....but this really didn't put a dampener on anything as Fabrizio took us on an extend we'd tour to see more attractions.
Definitely recommend this tour, and any with Fabrizio as he is clearly passionate about his work!

Of course the food, but our tour guide was very knowledgeable and also funny and kind….I would recommend this tour, very well done… actually we didn’t want it to end…. And the capo market was amazing…

We loved our Palermo food and city tour with Fabrizio! He was prompt and thorough in communicating with us before the day of the tour, and he was on-time meeting us at our cruise ship on the day of our tour. All of the food we sampled was delicious and we appreciated learning about the cultural significance of the various foods. We also enjoyed Fabrizio’s tour of Old Town and learning about its history and historical sites.
