Recently elected one of the 7 new wonders of the world, Christ the Redeemer statue is Rio’s most visited monument, situated at 710 meters (2,329 feet) above sea level on the top of Corcovado Mountain. From there one can have a 360-degree view of Rio de Janeiro. Approx. time required to visit Corcovado: 2 hours (car ride + minibus shuttle + visiting it). Admission fee: 41 reais (approx. US$ 14; 13 €; 10 £). It is important to know that this tour starts at 7:20am to avoid lines at Christ Redmeer. This particular tours are totally private. Once you book it, it will be only you and your travelling companions.

In 1990, Chilean-born Jorge Selarón began covering with tiles a 215-step stairway that connects Lapa to Santa Teresa. It was an obsessive and exhaustive work and he eventually covered the entire set of stairs with tiles. His unique work of art has featured in many famous magazines, newspapers, travel shows, documentaries, commercials and video clips such as Snoop Dogg’s “Beautiful”. Approx. time required to visit it: 1 hour (car ride to get there + visiting it) This particular tours are totally private. Once you book it, it will be only you and your travelling companions.

It is a 396-meter (1,299 feet) high one-block stone from where you can have a panoramic view over Copacabana, Leme, Botafogo and Flamengo beaches besides downtown, Rio-Niterói bridge, Guanabara Bay as well as others highlights of Rio de Janeiro. You have to include it in your private tour of Rio! Approx. time required to visit it: 2 hours (car ride to get there + 4 smooth 3-minute rides on cable cars + visiting it). Admission fee: 110 reais (approx. US$ 25; 23 €; 19 £). This particular tours are totally private. Once you book it, it will be only you and your travelling companions.

I had an extra day at the end of my business trip and tried to make the most of it despite the terrible weather that caused another operator to cancel a similar tour. Ederson was the guide and the owner of Trip in Rio. Since the others on this tour had postponed due to the weather, he contacted me and made sure I still got to see the sites. He personally drove me to these places and was the best guide I've ever had. He knows everybody - all of the drivers, facility staff, vendors. AMAZING! A very friendly and popular guy. His English speaking was on the level of native - very helpful for an American. He made sure my tour was wonderful. I will definitely book with Trip in Rio next time when I bring my wife.

The views were beautiful!!! One of the bonuses of our experience was all the great pictures taken by our wonderful tour guide, Eddie. The Christ the Redeemer statue was all I hoped it would be. We also saw monkies and a great gift shop. The items in there are of great quality. The Selaron steps are beautiful! Eddie shared the history and significance of that wonderful site...amazing!! Sugarloaf was not only amazing but has great history. It's a great place for pictures. Our tour guide was one of the best photographers around. He captured some beautiful memories for us. I would highly recommend him! He made the trip truly memorable.

Our guide for the 6 hours was Ederson Oliveira, and he was very professional and took great care of us. The process of booking him and how he interacted with us pre our arrival to Rio was second to none. He was friendly and helpful and was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a fantastic day in Rio. We leant a lot about the history and culture while we visited the top attractions in Rio. We can highly recommend Ederson.

Ederson is a wonderful tour guide. He was exemplary. Knowledgeable of the sites, history and country as a whole. I felt safe and thoroughly entertained with the whole experience. My first time in Brazil and he definitely made me feel like family. He went above and beyond my expectations. I highly recommend Ederson to be your guide and friend. Rio: what an amazing city! We had the chance to discover Rio and its main highlights (Corcovado, sugar loaf, St Theresa, Celeron stairs ...) with our guide Ederson, who knows how to share his passion for his city, always attentive and very professional. Jabier gave us a great tour despite on-and-off rain blocking some views of this magnificent city. He was able to show the city at its almost-best, knew lots of history and anecdotes, and was fun and accommodating. We'd definitely use him again for a future visit!
