My wife and I attempted to complete the 4 day/3 night Manchu Picchu hike but only made it to our first campsite.
Our guide, Carlos, was amazing and tried his best to help us continue our journey. When we decided it was best to return to the starting point, our porters Valentina, Santos, and Julian escorted us back. They were so patient and helpful. I don’t think we would have made it back without them.
Since we were unable to finish the hike, Junior, and his team booked accommodations and transportation so we could continue our journey and rejoin our group on the 4th day to tour Manchu Picchu.
I knew Sam Travel was a great company as my boss trekked with them about 5 years ago and had a wonderful time. Sam Travel goes above and beyond to take care of their clients and make them happy.
I highly recommend them!

The whole experience was amazing! The trails were beautiful and Carlos was a great tour guide. I have been able to learn about the Inca empire while visiting some of the ruins. The food was also incredible and the porters were great. I would definitely recommend!

This was a trip of a lifetime!!! We started with the intensive lares trek for 2 days, and our tour guide Gerry plus the incredible horseman & cook crew truly delivered on one of the most unforgettable experience of our lives! Jaw dropping gorgeous views with glaciers and alpacas & amazing food with 5+ courses per meal.
The inca trail was incredible too, our tour guide Daniel was super helpful and informative, and went out of his way to help us retrieve somethings we left at the hotel.
I can't recommend this agency enough!!!

I would highly recommend Sam Travel for anyone looking to go on the classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. My friends and I chose this company based on a recommendation we had gotten from someone who had done the trail a few years ago, and although we had high hopes, all of our expectations were surpassed. We were so impressed by the porter staff who worked so hard to make our trek more comfortable, carrying our duffel bags and setting up our tents prior to our arrival at camp. The food prepared by our chef Timoteo was so fresh, healthy and delicious (and beautifully presented!).
Finally, our guides Dayvit and Bruno were so knowledgeable, friendly and well-prepared; they truly went above and beyond to accommodate everyone’s needs and made our journey so much more fun every step of the way!
The company is indigenous-owned and employs mostly indigenous people, and we were so pleased to hear that the owner (who had been a porter himself previously) ensured that all porter staff do not carry excessive weight like in other companies. Overall, we had such a positive experience with Sam Travels and I would 100% recommend to a friend!

Although I was initially disappointed that Inca trail permits were gone for our dates, it couldn’t have worked out better because I enjoyed the Lares trek so much! Totally away from the crowds of the more popular trails, Lares really gives you the opportunity to experience local mountain communities and unbelievable vistas. We felt very well cared for by our team, starting with our guide Liz. Our chef Lucio and his assistant Nicolas kept us well fed and modified all our meals to accommodate my dietary needs (gluten-free). Our horseman Jose made sure our camp was set up and ready before we arrived each day and woke us up with hot tea every morning. Liz and the whole team put our comfort first and foremost. It was an amazing experience that I feel so fortunate to have had.

My family went to Cusco to do the Lares Trek, Machu Picchu and the Rainbow Mountains. We used Sam Travel for all of it and we had an amazing time. Everyone who helped with our trip made it very special. The guides, Ray and Maribel, were very knowledgeable and super friendly and easy to get a long with. The cooks, Nerio and Mario, made amazing food and even accommodated so family members who were vegetarian and vegan. Our porters, Valentin, Moises, Vivian, Sergio and Martin were so fast to set up camp and tear it down while carrying our bags. The drivers, Alex, Zadam and Fortu were great and made us feel very safe on all the roads we were on. Our family had a little health scare that the team helped us with and for that we will forever be grateful!

This was the best experience of my life. Not only were the views amazing but the crew that we had were incredible!! Our main tour guide Ray was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable about everything and made us feel so safe! Maribel out other guide was also amazing and so kind! We also had Nerio and Mario our Cooks, Valentin, Moises, Vivian, Sergio, Martin our Porters, and Alex, Zadam and Fortu our drivers. They were the BEST! 100% recommend!

Sergio was the best, most informative, most accommodating, most supportive, friendliest guide out there! The Lares Trek is beautiful and awe-inspiring, and the people at SAM, from the horsemen to cooks to guides, were top notch, friendly, resourceful, kind, and strong people who were open to our questions and happy to share their experiences and culture. Lares and the altitude is not for the faint of heart, but was the best way to visit the Sacred Valley, see shepherds and alpaca/llama herds, and learn more about Andean life.

The Lares trek was definitely a challenge for our group of relatively inexperienced hikers, but our tour guide and crew was very prepared and experienced and we had a great time with them! Sergio was our wonderful guide and he was also a great ambassador for the local culture.
