In the House of Cheese we try to let you know the importance of the Majorera Goat has for Fuerteventura and its people.
How is it possible that such a special animal has been able to overcome all the possible adversities with respect to the desert climate of our island, passing feeding difficulties in the history of the years, and not being able to sustain our ancestors majoreros, with their milk or meat, but has been and is able to provide us with a milk of such high quality, which has made Fuerteventura goat cheeses in the best in the world.

Absolutely amazing!!!!
Well worth the money. Everyone was so lovely. Elaine the guide was amazing couldn't ask for anyone better. Held the babies from 3 days old. Went into the pens with all the different ages of goats and fed them all. Cheese making again was amazing. Drank milk straight from the goat (well in a cup first ). Very informative and interesting would highly recommend 👌.

Loved this experience, learning about the history, care and management of the goats. Protective gear was provided and we started with the milking, putting treats into the bowls for each goat and then having a go milking by hand and machine - tasting the traditional gofio with milk straight from the goat (tastes like Horlicks!) Then out to feed and put hay/straw out for the different herds.

The family who owns the farm, the translator, the goats and the gorgeous little Wolfy dog are all incredibly friendly - I could have spent all day out there! It wasn't long before the milk we had just squeezed out of the goats was ready for us to do some more squeezing with - this time into cheese moulds. While they were settling with added weight on we went for a sit down and taste of some of the cheeses and accompaniments they sell in the shop - finally it's time to get the cheese we made packaged and labelled and ready to take home to either eat fresh or cure a little longer.

To start with, we had a delicious Cortado to wake us up. Then we tried on the clothes and got dressed for work. We started by driving the goats into the milking room. Now it was time to milk them, everyone was given instructions on how to do it. First by hand and then with a machine. When the milking was finished, the milk was mixed with rennet, which gave us time to muck out the stable, feed them, pet them and give the kids a bottle. When we had finished working in the stable, we went to the cheese dairy. Everyone learned the activities needed to make goat cheese. At the end, everyone got their cheese.
The whole thing was accompanied by breakfast, food and drink. For us, it was a great experience that we still talk about today. A great experience.

We had an amazing time making cheese (and more) on this trip. Started with greetings in the group and was taken into the milking room where we had the chance to milk the goats and try the milk, was also given the chance to try a local drink gofu, which was very tasty! we then went out to feed the goats, and they were very friendly and approachable, even the local herding dogs were friendly enough. The chance to hold the baby goats (kids) after that was amazing as well. From there we went into the cheese making room, where we were instructed clearly on how to make the cheese in the traditional way. I must say I'm not a fan of regular goats cheese but this cheese was fantastic. We were given 1kg that we had made to take away with us. Would highly recommend this as one of the best experiences we had on our trip to Fuerteventura. It's also worth noting that there were no issues with taking it onto the plane on the way home, even on hand luggage (this was one of our worries!).

Absolutely brilliant experience. It’s fascinating being involved with the full process from milking the goats to making the cheese. Respect to those animals and the people who work with them. Definitely worth doing!

It’s been absolutely wonderful we highly recommend it.
We often do workshops like this on holiday to learn about traditions and get to know local life.
This workshop was outstanding, the people running it were welcoming and very friendly, it was super informative (the English explanation was superb). Overall it was entertaining and hands on (in a very sanitary way)
The goats have been extremely friendly and our daughter (4 years) would not stop patting and feeding them.
The breakfast at the end was delicious and you get to take your own made cheese home too! What’s not to like!
