Really great experience. Great taste of everything and excited to return to this beautiful country with its incredible people. Our guide was super knowledgeable and accommodating. I must admit I was a bit hesitant as a single female to take this adventure, but all was perfectly fine (felt safer than in my hometown). It was clear we stuck to the touristy areas, so can’t speak to much else. Be prepared for a few transfers to the border, bring your stuff with you! Thankfully, they walked us through everything at customs (otherwise Id have no idea how to do it). Bring snacks for the ride home and a portable charger.

This trip was SO worth it! Nothing sketchy or unsafe about it. Tour guide was amazing. The transition across the boarder was easy and low stress. He helped us through the whole process pain free. The country is absolutely beautiful! Pictures don’t do it justice. We learned so much about the country, ate great food, and people were super nice.

It is a super long day as it started at 4:30am and we got back to our place by 8:45p. It’s a lot of driving, but you get to see so much of the country! We’d absolutely do it again!

If you’re in Costa Rica and wishing to add to your list of counties explored, this tour is a no-brainer. Don’t let the tour time scare you off. You will start in darkness and end in darkness, but if the itinerary sounds good to you and you have enthusiasm to visit Nicaragua, you won’t regret it. A different driver to and from the border was quiet, our Nicaraguan driver and guide made snack stops for just themselves and I wish there was more commentary to enhance the surroundings, but I’d always choose to have this experience. We were awarded with some great photographs and a day we’ll always remember.

This is likely the best tour i have done. choclate museum and granada were spectaular, catarina was even better and there many awesome vendors with cool trinkets soveiunrs and food as well. Tour guide was incredibly friendly helpful and informative, showing us current and past events in Niacaraguas history. They made crossing a heavily militarized border immensely less stressful than i had i gone alone. I cannot recommend enough, meals were great every sight was amazing. If you value seeing beautiful nature and learning central american history, book now!!

Yes yes yes! LONG day! But a great day! I went with four friends. We felt safe the whole time. Our guide was great! My favorite was the breakfast and just sampling the culture. I love these one day trips into another country that let you sample the culture and check off another country. Would recommend.

LONG day but an awesome experience. Unfortunately the volcano was closed but we stopped at an impressive viewpoint over the Pacific instead. Our guide David was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended tour!

On paper, everything looks great, we should have a great day!
We are doing this excursion at the end of our stay in Costa Rica, so we have already had an eyeful
The day before departure, we were sent an email informing us that the volcano would not be accessible, therefore replaced by a statue of Christ. Well.... One step less but replaced, and in the end goodbye to the visit to Masaya (no warning)
Going through customs is very quick, we are very well supervised.
Then breakfast, nothing to complain about. We then go to the Catarina viewpoint, very pretty with the lagoon, the volcano... but extremely crowded 😅
We arrive in Granada, before lunch. And there, we are told about a carriage ride, on the bus, for $20. We say no, that we will find out on our own, but they push us into the carriage. Perhaps we misunderstood, because we are doing the visits indicated in the email, following the cancellation of the volcano, that is to say a "chocolate factory", a "manufacture" of cigars, and the Granada square. No visit to the cathedral. We had very little free time to walk around, but a very long time at the chocolate sketch.
Coming back by carriage to the restaurant, surprise, we were asked for $20 per person. We went to find the guide to explain that we did not agree, because we did not want to do the horse ride, and that we were forced to ride. He took things correctly, that’s great. On the other hand, I don't know if we would have had the visits that were planned, without getting in the carriage...
The meal was very good and impeccable.
We arrive at the boat trip, a sketch!! The guy turned on the music loudly (goodbye animals), and the monkey island is just a rock, where the animals can't leave.... This really disturbed us (as well as a part of the group)
The return, also went very well, but very long road, with a return at 9 p.m.
In the end, we saw some beautiful things, but too much of a tourist trap for us, although I am convinced that the country is full of gems.
