Join us for a walking tour of New Orleans’ most historic neighborhood, the French Quarter. See the “Vieux Carré” through the eyes of the Louisiana Creoles who originally called it home. Louisiana is unique amongst the various regions of the U.S. The intriguing tales of notable creoles (of West African, Native American and European origin) will illuminate the development of the culture that distinguishes Louisiana from the rest of the American south.
This tour is an exploration of old Louisiana, the Louisiana that gave birth to Jazz and Zydeco, to gumbo and jambalaya. Louisiana is technically a southern American state, but culturally Louisiana has always been the northernmost part of the Caribbean.
(This tour includes a tour of the courtyard of a beautiful antebellum French Quarter residence and normally of St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, though the cemetery is currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.)

This tour was absolutely AMAZING. I’ve gone on other French Quarter tours before, but this by far was thee best. I learned so much that I had never heard of. The owner/tour operator, was kind, patient (while we asked questions :-) professional and so knowledgeable. I definitely will bring others to experience it as well.

The guide told us at the onset this wasn’t her regular tour and kept referring to her colleague who was supposed to be doing the tour. We learned very little new information. And some things she said were not true—especially regarding Cajuns. My friend is one—born and raised in Abbevilke.

Excellent tour by Lawson. He opened our eyes to a chapter of history we had not been taught in school, and made us eager to learn more. This tour was a fantastic way to start our week in New Orleans, and Lawson's sense of humor made it not only educational but fun. Highly recommend!

Outstanding tour with Lawson--very knowledgeable but also casual and charismatic. Switched seamlessly between French and English to accommodate the Francophone family in our group. Gave us a sweeping but nuanced perspective on the history and cultural currents of New Orleans.

My guide Muriel was incredibly well informed about the history of the French Quarter and shared many, many insights you can’t get elsewhere. She was very catered to my interests and very responsive to my endless questions. She also gives many tours in French as she herself is a transplant from France. Muriel was very personable and charismatic and made the tour very worthwhile. Highly, highly recommended!

Muriel was a great your guide who knew so much history about New Orleans and how it came to be.
I learnt so much on the tour such as the original definition of Creole, free people of colour and how New Orleans was different to rest of the US in that respect.
Please book the tour if you want to find out the detailed history of New Orleans. As well as visit specific buildings which helps to bring the history alive.
