Enjoy a private walking tour around Siena, a smart medieval city center that has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.

Our guide Demetra was filled with knowledge about Sienna, its history, its uniqueness and its quirks. Learning about the place the "contrade" (neighborhoods) have in the city was fascinating. I highly recommend this tour, and Demetra, to everyone.

We booked two half-day tours with Demetra in July, ‘23. We did a walking tour of Siena one afternoon, then a tour of San Gimignano the following day. We were on a family trip w/ 8 of us total, ranging in age from 13-78.
Demetra did an exceptional job keeping us all informed, intrigued and totally fulfilled! She has a very easygoing and relaxed attitude which made us all super comfortable asking questions, making requests, etc. Her tours are a great balance of both historical facts and stories about local customs/folklore.
Both tours were really a lot of fun! We thoroughly enjoyed our time w/ Demetra and will absolutely book w/ her again on future trips to Tuscany. And you should, too!!

Demetra was a fantastic guide and shared her knowledge of the city both as a resident and through her study and love of art history and how this is reflected in the architecture.
She guided us through the city’s key sites, its history & culture and made it come to life for us.

Demetra gave our group of first-time visitors to Siena a fabulous introduction to this beautiful city! In two hours, Demetra gave us a sense of Siena's rich and colorful history, showing us many of its iconic locations, including the Duomo, Santa Maria della Scala, the Torre del Mangia, and, of course, the Piazza del Campo, where the horse races of the Palio di Siena have been taking place since the 1600's.
The highlight of the tour was definitely our visit to the small, beautifully renovated museum of the Contrada Priora della Civetta (Owl Contrada), one of the 17 districts of Siena that compete in the Palio. Here we saw many of the contrada's exquisite costumes and banners, as well as photos and videos of Owl victories in past Palios. The stable that houses the Owl contrada's horses in the days before the races is also part of this museum.
Wandering the streets of the Centro Storico on our own would have been been perfectly charming, but our experience was enhanced immensely by the knowledge and insights Demetra provided. We recommend her most highly!
