Great experience, with a top, friendly guide - Fabrizio.
Fabrizio came and picked us up from our Bnb and drove us up to the cable car.
There was a lot of fog on the roads on the journey up which is very unusual but our guide continued, no problem.
Once we were near 2000m the fog suddenly disappeared like magic, unveiling a clear Etna which was incredible.
Our guide then showed us where to get the cable car tickets and waited in his car while we were gone.
After this he drove us down to the wine tasting village where we tried special Catania wine, which was very interesting. Then we were driven back to where we were staying.
Overall a fantastic experience, highly recommend

A trip to Etna with a skilled and high standard of knowledge from the guide Claudio Coco. There were all the time we needed to enjoy the trip to the hight that were reacheable for the time beeing.

Our hotel booked this tour for us and one of the important features was that our driver and guide collected us from our hotel and we were in a small group of 4 people.
The Etna tour starting point/cable car is at least an hour's drive from the centre of Catania.
Our guide provided lots of interesting information as we drove towards Etna and also provided us with hiking boots free of charge. You can rent boots and other items on Etna (such as jackets) and the price is normally around 5euros per item.
Once we arrived at the Etna starting point our guide bought us coffee and went off to buy our cable car and shuttle bus tickets. I had assumed he would come with us to the top, but there are official guides on Etna who have a monopoly on this! No additional costs is required for these guides.
Due to volcanic activity we could only go as high as 2,700metres but this was still close enough to the top. The Etna guide showed us the main lava fields and dormant craters from earlier eruptions.
It was around 20deg at the top when we went so warm clothing wasn't necessary. Trainers are OK, but don't wear your best pair as they will get very black from the volcanic dust. Hiking trainers are the best.
On the way back we stopped at the obligatory farm shop to taste and buy local produce.

Claudio came to pick us up at our b&b in the morning. As we were driving to the Etna, he was already telling interesting info and facts on mount Etna as well as on Catania. During the drive he even showed us some consequences of earlier Etna eruptions. He was very friendly and passionate about this tour. He answered all of our questions and gave us our time to walk around. He was an excellent guide and this was a unforgettable experience!

Fantastic day trip to Etna with friendly Claudio who was extremely knowledgable about the volcano, it’s surroundings and Sicily! From pick up to drop off he was fantastic. Tour was perfectly pitched with mix of activities and local food tastings. Would highly recommend!

Hi! Best 135 euro /person ever spent! Claudia was amazing! She took us from our apartment in Catania and we went to Sapienza where she helped us go though the lines all the way up 2750( usually 3000 but it was too much snow in may). All the time we had great conversations and had a lot of fun. Then we went to wine and honey tasting, we ate together and then she dropped us off to our apartment. Very very good experience!
