Shrouded in mystery, driven by beating drums, and populated by some of the most fascinating—and virile—deities in modern theology, voodoo has been intriguing outsiders since it first arrived in New Orleans.
Your tour begins on Basin Street, just steps away from the famous tomb which allegedly holds the remains of Marie Laveau herself. After a brief lesson on the differences between Haitian Voodoo, New Orleans Voodoo, Santeria, and Hoodoo, guests are led to Congo Square, site of Laveau’s countless ceremonies and rituals. From this sacred ground you’ll make your way to Laveau’s old home, the place she raised her children by day and practiced spiritual workings with a bigass snake around her neck by night. Zombie lore, pandemic history, and some old timey propaganda await you on Dauphine Street, where your guide will reveal the truth about voodoo dolls and traditional Afro-Caribbean medicine, all through the lens of ancestor worship and “magic” in America’s Most Haunted City.

Informative and fun. Doug (man in kilt) was very knowledgeable and made the experience very enjoyable. Knew quite a bit about Marie Laveau and her life. I really enjoyed the tour.

Our tour was fun and incredibly informative - we continued talking about the things we learned for the rest of the day! Our tour guide Doug was passionate and so knowledgeable about the real history of voodoo and the local area; he was also a great storyteller! Everyone in our group said we would definitely come back for another tour.

I've always wanted to go to New Orleans. There is so much history and I wanted to explore all of it, but first I really wanted to learn about the voodoo culture. Thanks to my tour guide Doug. I learned so much more then I ever expected to in an hour and a half tour. Doug is very knowledgeable about New Orleans and all the different cultures that were brought together to make NOLA what it is today and has stories to go with all of it. Not only is Doug very knowledgeable he is also very entertaining and I promise that you will not be board. I would have loved to do another tour to hear more stories, but unfortunately I had to go back home. If you want a great tour with lots of history. Sign up for this one. I promise you won't regret it and don't wait until the last say of your trip like I did. You may want to take another tour. I left NOLA educated not hungover. Thank you Doug

This was an absolutely fabulous tour. Doug is an incredible guide; he’s very knowledgeable, clearly passionate about the subject matter, and loves New Orleans deeply. Not only is this tour fun, it also includes a ton of interesting history, and takes visitors around beautiful areas of New Orleans. Highly recommend this for anyone interesting in learning more about the history of voodo, and New Orleans on the whole!

We had our voodoo tour with the 'crazy guy in the fur coat,' Doug, who was entertaining, energetic, knowledgeable and educational. He was so respectful of what New Orleans Voodoo is that we told our friends about it and they booked for a tour that very evening. We loved it!! Thank you.

Appreciated the effort that went into researching history for this tour. Our guide had done extensive research and written the tour. Very impressed with his efforts to place the stories in historically accurate settings, dramatize the events and add entertaining anecdotes. I'm not into witchcraft or horror, but appreciated the history and lack of focus on the "take a picture and see if you can see the ghost in that corner" crap!

We did a lovely walk across the hallmarks for Voodo where either ceremonies took place (Congo square) or the the key players lived, died or got into trouble.
This tour is the result of the guide setting the record of Voodo straight, especially of all the myths of Marie Laveau! The tour went by flying.
