Our day long excursion from Kauai to Pearl Harbor was on our bucket list from the time we booked our vacation to Hawai’i nearly a year prior. I actually booked the day trip online from our home in Indiana, not really knowing what to expect. The communication back and forth with the Sunshine Tours staff was surprisingly personal and reassuring. The day of the trip from Kauai to Honolulu started out at 4:00 am driving our rental from the north end of the island to Lihue Airport to catch our 5:20 flight. A Short 19 minutes later we’re back on the ground and I’m waiting for my guide at the predetermined location at Honolulu Airport. I made a call to Sunshine Tours and spoke with a very helpful agent who conveyed that my driver was enroute and to answer any incoming local call because she may be contacting me. What a reassuring and mind easing conversation. When our tour guide, Kanoe arrived just a short time later, she was like a breath of fresh air. She got out of the bus and personally greeted us and got to know us before we boarded her small bus that already held about 20 fellow passengers. Kanoe immediately introduced us to the others, calling most of them by name, making us feel so right at home. She called me and my wife by name the whole day, and constantly brought up tid bits of information from our getting acquainted conversation prior to boarding the bus. I don’t know how she kept us and everyone else straight in her mind, but she was amazingly sharp. On the drive to Pearl Harbor she conveyed a history lesson to us all over the loud speaker while perfectly navigating her route. Very moving and expertly delivered. She remained at or near our groups side the entire day, giving very helpful tips of must see places and the most efficient order to view the many historical sights. When she would send us on our own, she always had a time and place to meet back up, and her judgement of time needed and punctuality was impeccable. After a long and enjoyably tiring day of soaking up a plethora of World War 2 history, she safely delivered my wife and myself back to Honolulu Airport in plenty of time to catch our return flight to Lihue. As she dropped us off, she even explained the navigation through the airport to help guide us where we needed to be. Many kudos to Kanoe and Sunshine Tours for providing us an enjoyable, stress free, and unforgettable adventure in the beautiful state of Hawai’i.

Provided the same information to Viator and aloha sunshine tours several times (birth dates for the flight..) I received an email the day before that the package was cancelled with no other information. Which sent me into a spiral because I was boarding the flight to Lihue. Turns out they only booked 1 of the 5 people that I paid for. Never received flight information even after I paid until I called about the cancellation. I was lied to and said that I didn’t receive flight information because I hadn’t paid. They finally fixed it all and I finally received flight information for everyone in the party. The tour bus driver was 15 minutes late picking up from the airport. I called to inquire and I got snapped at about “Lihue traffic” only to have that contradicted by the tour bus driver. Driver said there was ZERO traffic and just said they were running late. Extremely EXTREMELY stressful to book through Viator. I spent $18K on my entire trip and for this part of the trip to experience so many problems, was enough to give anyone a stroke. I saved for years to get to this point to take my family to Pearl Harbor. Not worth it to book this way. Communication was absolutely a dumpster fire. My two friends booked this with us and they had absolutely zero problems with the booking. Guess I got lucky. The driver for aloha sunshine tours, Leena, was an absolute gem- kind and knowledgeable. However there was some stress involved with getting back to the airport on time. We barely made it back to catch our flights back to Kauai. Time management was not on her radar. Pearl Harbor and all of that was absolutely amazing. The tour driver was kind. I would not use Viator again.

My husband & I booked the Complete Pearl Harbor Experience from Kauai. In general it was a great experience, and one that we would have had difficulty coordinating and booking ourselves.
It started out a little rocky in that our confirmation stated we were booked on a Southwest flight from Kauai to Honolulu at 6:00 a.m. We were to be at the Lihue airport by 4:45 a.m. When we arrived and were trying to check in we found there was no reservation for us under the code we were given on any Southwest flight that day. Gate agent could not help us. Called the tour operator’s office and left a message since they were not yet open. As it turned out our reservation was on Hawaiian Airlines, not Southwest, despite the several confirmation messages we had received. We didn’t get a call back that day until late morning and by then we had figured it out ourselves.
All in all, a bit stressful.
Once reaching Honolulu, we were with a group of about 20 people. Vehicle was comfortable and our guide, Cousin Will, was very nice and kept us informed of the schedule. The tour felt a little rushed at times but overall was very enjoyable and informative. We felt we could have spent more time on the USS Arizona, but, since another shuttle was arriving we were encouraged to take the return one. The remainder of the tour was well done and memorable. We were dropped back at the Honolulu airport a few hours before our flight but we understood others had earlier flights to Maui or Kona so all of our schedules had to be accommodated for.

Aloha Sunshine Tours arranged everything, which included our flight to and from Kauai and all the tickets we needed inside. He was a little late picking us up from the airport but there was another couple that got lost and we had to wait for them anyway. Jorge did a great job telling us what to expect at the Memorial and gave us a lot of information as we drove around Honolulu and Waikiki. My husband wanted to see EVERYTHING at Pear Harbor and this tour allowed us to see it all and we had plenty of time to see it.

Everything that was supposed to happen did and on time
We did have one issue but it was handled with speed and efficiency. I would recommend this tour operator without hesitantaion

It was organized so nicely!
The printouts we were given upon arrival were great, and helpful. The tour guide was odd, and the tour van was in poor condition with no real working AC, so the tour vehicle was not the greatest, but mostly the windows were so dirty we were not even able to see out. However, the trip really was planned nicely, and organized! Hopefully you will get a great guide with a decent tour bus. I would still definitely recommend Viator for sure!
