As a veteran SCUBA diver, I place a premium on dive operations that have their "stuff" together. There's nothing that worries me more than an operator that seems to be flying by the seat of their pants-- or doesn't seem too concerned with the 5 newbie divers they just unleashed into 15 meters of water over a delicate coral reef. Carlos is the opposite of that.... he was incredibly focused on proper procedures, kept a sharp eye out for less-experienced divers (and kept them from being over the reef), and provided the right level of guidance and critter-hunting that you'd expect from a great DiveMaster. As an older, Advanced Open Water diver, he checked in on me regularly, but left me on a bit of a longer leash than some of the rest of the group -- which I appreciated. I really can't recommend this shop and their services highly enough.
Beyond all that, the service was excellent -- of course, they loaded everything on the boat and set up my equipment -- but they also freshwater rinsed everything so that I didn't have to deal with it back on my cruise ship. Great service, great attitude, and great attention to detail.
If you're cruising to Costa Maya, you'll need to take a 7-8 minute cab ride from the cruise port to get to the shop-- but it was safe and pleasant to do so.

I love the environment here. We have been diving with these guys before and are never disappointed. We arrive in off of a cruise ship. We bring our own gear. It's a $12 cab fare from the port.

Dr Dive and his team of divers, boat tenders, and staff were a joy to be with and they made our port day in Costa Maya our favorite day of our vacation. We did two dives with Dr Dive. The first was a drift dive along a beautiful reef highlighted by a 2-minute visit from a curious turtle. Our second dive was at “40 Canyons” and we loved every second of the dive. Dr Dive maintains a highly skilled team of divers and we felt safe at every stage of our dives. We will be back!!!

Doctor Dive's staff was very friendly and very professional. They made sure the the equipment fit and carried it out to the boat for you. I have dove over 150 times and I have never had a better dive master. He made sure, we saw everything that was hanging around the reef big and small. The only down side for my trip was getting a taxi from the cruise port, the drivers did not want to take a single. I ended up sharing a ride with two other people going in the same direction. The taxi ride was only $5.
When I come back I will make sure I use them for diving.

This shop was awesome to dive with. Very professional and extremely pleasant, It's been a couple weeks since I dove with them and can't stop thinking about wanting to go back! I found the general area to be a hidden gem, I hope the cruise traffic doesn't mess it up. My wife and I did come from a cruise and booked the dive ourselves. Right from the very moment we walked into the shop we felt genuinely welcome. The feeling never changed from shop to dive.
There was plenty of sea life with a nice reef. Our favorite part of the dive was the huge turtles! I wish I could remember the shop owners name as well as the dive master.

Brutal experience!!!! César is a great instructor and we have seen everything!! Dolphins, turtles, moray eels, a thousand fish and lobsters and corals.

I walked into the shop and was greeted by name. I was the only solo diver but it made me feel important. Antonio the dive master was amazing and patient with someone figuring out weight in salt water for the first time. The the dive area was a local reef with a max dive of 60 feet. Our second dive was amazing. My fellow diver and I have renamed the dive site to Manatee. Thank you so much for an amazing dive

I have RETURNED!!! I dove with Doctor Dive last year, had such a wonderful time that I returned yet again! I can say nothing has changed, Charlie is excellent with e-mails and communication and he took good care of me. I was reunited with the same Divemaster (Lucy) and Captain (Rambo) I had the year before. Lucy set up my gear, did the safety brief and away we went. I had opted to get their video service again, and she didn't disappoint. The reefs and wildlife were vibrant and I had a wonderful time. Upon returning Lucy rinsed off my gear. Once again I had a wonderful time and I will dive with them should I ever be in Costa Maya again.
They are ideal for divers on a cruise ship, when you first talk to Charlie let him know you are on a cruise ship. Both times I had more than enough time to do two dives and make it back with ample time to spare. When you disembark the ship, it is a long walk to the taxi stands, it took me about 15 - 20 minutes. The pier is long and then you have to work your way through a maze of shops and restaurants. I would recommend to hold off buying anything until you return. Once you make it to the taxi stand, it takes about 10-15 mins to get to the dive shop and it cost $8 one way. Make sure you bring small bills because the drivers may not be able to give you change. When you first arrive you're in a small neighborhood and you will think that the driver brought you to the wrong place but be at ease, as soon as you turn that corner, the beach is there! There are places to lounge and there are also restaurants and bars available.

I just got back from a Royal Caribbean cruise where I dove with Doctor Dive during our stop in Costa Maya. I couldn't wait to leave a glowing review. Charlie and the whole Doctor Dive crew were amazing to work with. Communication via email and WhatsApp were extremely prompt and Charlie was fantastic to work with. He smoothly dealt with me when I messed up some of my timing for the day forgetting that ship time and local time were different, and also easily navigated my buddy not diving that day because of some ear issues. Unfortunately because of being a bit tired myself and wanting to spend some extra time on the beach with my family, I was only able to do one out of my two scheduled dives but it was awesome! Lucas the divemaster was fantastic and led a great dive. The whole team was so accommodating and got your gear out to the boat and set up. It was fantastic just to jump on the boat and head out. They are perfect for cruise ship divers. If I'm back in Costa Maya I will definitely be diving with Doctor Dive again. I can't imagine there's a better shop in port.
