You will experience our actual SAMURAI practice.
・The number of participants is limited to 5. If you would like more than 6 , please let us know!
First, you will learn the basic history of swords and how they are manufactured. You will also actually disassemble a sword to deepen their understanding of its parts.
During the iai lesson,you will learn proper sword etiquette, and the basics of handling and swinging a sword.
Next, using a Bokuto,you will learn how to use the curve and center ridge of the sword. After that, you will learn about offense and defense when facing an opponent using a padded sparring practice sword in a mock duel.
Lastly, you will be able to try test cutting .Each guest will have the chance to try cutting two rolled up straw mats. Cutting at the correct angle will result in a cut with no resistance to the blade.

One of the highlights of our trip! Sumida was an excellent teacher and we really enjoyed learning about and practicing with the samurai swords. Sparring was also very fun! It’s a little bit out of the city but well worth the trip.

An unforgettable experience. This 2-hour course included everything as described, the teacher was very friendly and competent. Due to a cancellation, I had the privilege of taking a private course and it was very educational and exciting.

So, this was the number 1 activity my husband wanted to do, and he LOVED it. I didn't participate in the class, but the sensei let me attend and observe. My husband considered this one of his top 3 experiences in Japan. He really enjoyed learning how to use a samurai sword and practice slicing through rolled up mats. Highly recommended!!!

Incredible experience, definitely worth the money !!! Our sensei was very adamant about teaching us the proper use of the katana and technique.
10/10 experience, if you go to Tokyo you gotta do this .

This was the absolute highlight of our trip to Tokyo! it was such a pleasure meeting Master Sumida who was very informative, friendly, and funny... A class act! Also a member our group is visually impaired, and Master Sumida was very accommodating to him, which made it an extra special experience for our visually impaired friend. Book this experience. You will not regret it!

This was by far the best experience of our trip. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating, careful, and fun. Everyone in our small group had a blast and learned a lot. Loved the respect and care with which he treated the class and how he yearns to pass on the martial arts culture as a way of life.
We are truly grateful for his time and dedication to sharing this amazing art and culture.
Would definitely recommend and will book again when I return to Japan.

An amazing experience, something you will remember for a very long time. He was funny, patient and charasmatic. Also strict as you have to be around a Katana that can slice you. Absolutely any adult can try this no age limitations on mental ones

Excellent course. Sumida is the real thing. He's a true Samurai. If you want training from one of the most respected trainers in Japan this is the course. From start to finish the course was incredibly well organized. We got an overview of the history of the Samurai, sword making techniques over the years, to modern day practices. We then learned how to dismantle and reassemble swords, tell good quality swords from copies, all before learning safety and how to use the swords and how to defend yourselves. Sumida's English is great and he's a incredibly passionate and nice person. I would highly recommend the course.
