In this tour you will get to know some of the places of the city of Rio de Janeiro called "Little Africa" by artist and sambista Heitor dos Prazeres in the early twentieth century. These sites are part of the historical and archaeological circuit of celebration and awareness of the African heritage of blacks in Brazil.
"Little Africa" has come to identify a significant part of the city's waterfront, where African presence and black cultural heritage have forever marked the history, not just of Rio de Janeiro but throughout Brazil.
Often blacks from all over the country were welcomed there, usually by "Aunt Ciata" who was a very important figure for this whole historical process. It is through this walk through "Little Africa" you will also get to know the Cultural Center "Tia Ciata", Museum of New Blacks, Cais do Valongo, hanging garden and we will finish in Pedra do Sal where besides the historical collection also has great bars and restaurants of typical Afro-Brazilian foods.

My experience with Wellinton was Excellent, 10 out of 10. and it met all my expectations. He was punctual at the meeting point and knows a lot about black history in Rio. It should be noted that because I am Colombian I loved that the tour would be in Spanish and even though he says that his Spanish is not good, it is. Everything was very clear to me, we made all the stops that the tour included between those museums of Prietos Novos and Piedra Do Sal, which I went to the next day at night and the atmosphere is spectacular. If you are looking for a private tour, do not hesitate to contact him.

No one showed up. I'm hoping I get a refund. I got there 30 minutes early and waited for 40 minutes.

I definitely enjoyed this tour and getting a deeper look into the history and cultural influence of Africans in Rio. Of course there’s always more to a city than the main tourist attractions. I had no issues communicating with the company prior to the tour nor the day of. Our tour guide, Wellington, was very informative and personable. Due to Carnival, the tour was shorter than usual, but he offered to show us a few other things instead. Definitely recommend and good luck Wellington!

We had a great time with our guide Wellington. We walked through Pedra del Sal (Rio Dr Janeiro) and he showed us unique sights, buildings, streets, with amazing storries and historical insights. We've learned a lot about the black history and Samba in Rio.
