Food was delicious and portioned perfectly! After the tour I even went back to a couple of places we stopped at.

Kelly was our tour guide and I can tell she's super passionate about New Orleans. Her stories were really fun/interesting and added a lot to the experience (though the food alone was enough to rave about!)

My friend and I were lucky enough to have Kelly as our tour guide this past Friday. Her energy was contagious from the moment we met at the French Market and kicked off with Loretta’s (unforgettable) praline-filled beignets. She is a born storyteller, has charisma for days, made every single street and dining experience stand out in a new light. EVERYONE knew her, and at each new place, our group was warmly welcomed. It was exactly the kind of immersion you hope for when you’re visiting a new city, and I trusted her every step of the way. The food was amazing, all in exactly the kind of intimate/casual places that work for me, and Kelly had a knack for pacing us so I always felt like I had room for more when the next treat rolled around. Ending a satisfying day with soul food, calas, and drinks in Tremé (a place rich with history and where Kelly herself grew up) was absolutely perfect. I can’t recommend this experience enough, especially if it’s your first time in this city. Seeing New Orleans through the eyes of someone who genuinely loves everything about it was a pleasure, and if I return soon, it’ll be because of her!

Thanks to Kelly for a great experience on the food tour. We did a Culinary Backstreets Tour in Tokyo last year and this was quite a different, albeit still enjoyable experience. Lots of the food is takeaway and we ate it in pubs, I guess to get out of the searing heat which is fine, but if you are not a drinker, you will have few alternatives. I did appreciate Kelly getting me a spiced tomato juice! My husband is a drinker so he was fine! My Tokyo experience was a bit more refined as we visited fine dining restaurants, which wasn't the case in New Orleans, but I guess maybe a reflection of the authentic dining experience? Kelly has a great knowledge of the culture, and music history of the area which was interesting and appreciated. All in all, you'll have an enjoyable afternoon on this trip.

What an incredible experience this food tour was! Kelly our guide was amazing sharing so much of her love for New Orleans culture and cuisine. We loved her connection to culture and places and people as we walked the backstreets of her childhood neighbourhood. We tried food that we have never even considered before and loved every mouthful. So many great stops. Highlight was the neighbourhood bar for Friday fish and chats with locals. Kelly in amazing, find her and tour with her - you won’t regret it.

I had a GREAT tour with Kelly! She started the day with as much energy as she finished it with! She did a great job tailoring the tour to our curiosities and the group needs. She is music royalty and was gracious in sharing her family's story! The hidden gems she took us to were delicious and every place welcomed us! Thanks!

This is an Erik only review as Cheryl did not attend. I attended this even on April 17, 2024. We met by the French Market in the morning where we me our guide Kelly. She was amazing. She was knowledgeable, friendly funny and seemed everyone in New Orleans knows her. She took us to some amazing places. We sampled a ton of food. From memory we had frozen Irish coffee, muffaletta sandwich, shrimp and clam poor boy sandwich, gator bites, red beans and rice, fried chicken, grits, yams and other things I am forgetting. As we walked Kelly pointed out landmarks and told great storied. On this trip you will get stuffed full, so skip breakfast. I give this tour my highest recommendation. Thank you, Kelly!

This was an excellent and fascinating tour through the streets of the French Quarter, Tremé and the Marigny, the history of New Orleans and, most of all, how the history and geography of the city has contributed to the development of the cuisine. There was a lot of information, plenty of delicious food (and some drink) and a few miles of walking on a pretty warm day but our guide, James, made it all seem effortless. His background a a chef gives him a deep knowledge and understanding of local food and the city’s restaurant scene. And he took us to places we could never have found on our own. And his tips on where to eat and drink in the city will help us greatly during the rest of our stay.

To say that we were impressed with the tour is an understatement. Our tour guide, Kelly, did a fantastic job of getting us out of the usual touristy spots to try a very wide variety of creole foods (and a few drinks!). Kelly's New Orleans knowledge, music-royalty lineage, and friends in the neighborhood restaurants really made this experience unique. She introduced us to new foods and showed us the strong cultural ties in the communities we visited. A+ job, Kelly!

Had the best time with Kelly on our tour. Her life is amazing and gives great insight into the traditions and history of New Orleans. Every single food we had was incredible - frozen Irish coffee, red beans and rice, muffaletta, po'boy, local chips, fried chicken, mac n cheese, gator balls, cocktails. We have taken many Culinary Backstreets tours and they never disappoint. You will not regret spending your day eating and exploring through this amazing city!
