Our Journey Through Time food tour was a wonderful experience - and a perfect intro for our first full day in Japan! We saw so many interesting sights, and learned so many fascinating details of Japan’s history. Not to mention the food… wow! As they advised…start hungry and be prepared to eat!
Tokyo is expansive and it would have been impossible for us to have found and learned about so many local delicacies on our own. Our guide, Keiko, was super knowledgeable, completely engaging, spoke beautiful English, and made sure that everyone had a great experience. She was truly a delight, and her thoughtfulness epitomized Japan’s culture of living in harmony. Our group of 7 (4 adults and 3 teens) all loved it and highly recommend!

The food through history tour is incredible. If you are a foodie do not miss this tour. It’s worth every penny. We tried so many incredible foods we never even knew existed. Our guide was Paiva and she was incredible to spend the day with. And she gave us great recommendations for other places on our trip.

My partner and I cannot praise our expert tour guide, Miko, enough for a wonderful and fun time. We greatly enjoyed the tour's theme of the past, present, and future, and Miko prepared a presentation booklet that allowed us to read more about the ingredients, dishes, and even some historical photos. I learned so much about Japanese cuisine from Miko, and we even had the opportunity to meet the owner of a Japanese sweets shop! There is so much to see on this tour, and you'll get to try tasty treats and food like kelp candy, mochi, fruit sandwiches, curry, and taiyaki. When the tour concluded, Miko walked us back to the train station, and she later sent a follow-up email with the photos she had taken of the group and the names of the dishes we had! She's a top-notch, incredibly kind, and attentive tour guide, and again, we had a great time touring the streets of Tokyo. If you want to try out a variety of Japanese food while learning about the country's history and culture, then I 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tokyo!

A very nice tour to get to know Tokyo from the past through the present to the future. It would be almost impossible for a foreign visitor to find so many special stores, locations and local delicacies at once. Yasu is a great guide who speaks perfect English and always take care of everyone. All in all highly recommended!

We had the opportunity to join Miko of Hello! Tokyo Tours for a 5.5 hour food tour of Tokyo. Although I have been to Tokyo multiple times over the years, this was the first time I had the opportunity to do a food tour and Miko did not disappoint.
The tour was structured in such a way as to consider Tokyo’s food culture in its past, as in the Nihombashi area, present as in Ginza and Yurakucho areas, and future, ending in Akihabara.
We learned about the cultural and societal history of Japan and Tokyo from the time before the Shogun to the present, including the salaryman with an eye towards the future.
Two examples of the influence of foreign nations on Japanese cuisine, such as the Portuguese with Tempura and the British with the import of curry to Japan, and how the Japanese modified these were also discussed AND sampled!
Miko’s background is in education and it showed. She’s alert, polite, professional, engaging and friendly! The tour itself was amazing and I’d highly recommend Hello! Tokyo Tours and Miko if you have the opportunity to enjoy this marvelous city and its incredible food and culture!
