Unfortunately, we felt this tour was a bit unorganized and we had to find the tour office, which was located a bit away from the Basilica, then we had to walk to another location to get our guide and headsets, then walk to the Basilica. Too much time spent in the sun and hot temperature before tour even started. Guide was knowledgeable, but spoke very quickly and had a heavy accent which was hard to understand at times.

This was a really disappointing experience and I wouldn’t recommend it. Venice Tours was completely unprofessional and our tour guide actually yelled at all of us for things Venice Tours should have taken care of. Firstly, there was no mention that women had to cover themselves until we were already in the “skip the line” line. The office also never issued us tickets to get into the church. We all stood at the entrance for 40 minutes until someone from Venice Tours was able to print and bring us paper tickets to be scanned… only to find out that those tickets had already been used by another tour so they didn’t work. They had another employee bring us a set of new tickets but these were also previously used. The third set worked, however they didn’t have one for my 7 year old child and the tour guide if my son could wait out in front until this part of the tour was completed- what??!! Seriously?! He’s 7! They alas found another ticket for him after I started screaming at them. This all wasted about an hour of everyone’s time which then made the tour guide rush through the tour so he could be on time for his next tour. We were all expressly disappointed and frustrated and would never do another tour with Venice Tours again. It was terrible.

It’s rare that a bucket event meets expectations but Saint Marks did. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit most of the great cathedrals in the world. I can honestly say that nothing I’ve seen rivals the beauty of the jewel of Venice. Highly recommend it.

Very knowledgeable guide and she even got my teen interested in the history of the Bascillica. Quick peek into the palace but a great overview of St Marks Sq and the beautiful buildings.
Note that shoulders and knees should be covered for entering churches

The only thing that was good about this tour was the skip the line ticket. If you can get skip the line on your own, do that. We couldn’t, because ticket scalping companies like this one had bought up all the online tickets for the day we wanted to go.
There are reviews on here about specific guides. Doesn’t matter. You don’t get to choose your guide. Our guide was a man with a very thick accent that was hard to understand. His voice was also weird and annoying (sorry this is so mean, but it was true - his was not a voice you want in your ear). Within 5 minutes I was just ready for it to be over so I could hand back the audio headset and get far away from him.
To note: the tour had a start time of 10:15 but it was a full 45 min before we were actually in the church - a very long time was spent checking in, then sorting into further groups for languages. Our group was large and it was quite rushed. No time to linger and just take in the beauty of the church. Once we were rid of the terrible guide we re-toured the basilica on our own from our guidebook and reading the signage posted around. It was a much more pleasant experience. I saw people in small groups or with private guides and had pangs of jealousy. If you have literally ANY other option, choose it and not this company.

Stunning space and knowledgeable guide but it would have been nicer if we could have moved around more to see more of the basilica before being shuffled outside. Not great for small children as the descriptions were dense and we stood in the same spots for quite a while.
