We had a wonderful time visiting and fly fishing with our guide, Mike. He was terrific. We fished three full days, going to a different location each day. Our favorite was the Highlands. A bit of a drive but well worth it. The vistas were spectacular. Caught our fair share of trout and char. Highly recommend Mike and GoFishing.

I am very disappointed. The experience fishing with this company was nothing like what I had envisioned. I expected I would fish a couple of rivers and maybe a couple of lakes. We fished one lake all day, one side of the lake was straight into the wind. The other side of the lake was calmer but very shallow with seaweed on every cast. I know we cant control the weather but a guide should have a couple of options of fishing locations especially for nearly $1,000.00!! What happened to the fishing beats that they are suppose to obtain? My understanding is lakes are very cheap to get a card.
The other issue was the gear, the first reel had a knot maybe 50 meters down the line that would catch the line and stop the cast, the replacement reel that my guide put on was not even half spooled with line, and the reel itself was junk. Also I fished two spoons and two very old spinners, the hooks could not have been duller.
I didn’t need to catch dozens of fish or even 1 fish to be satisfied, I just wanted to enjoy the experience, and feel as though I got my moneys worth. I would not go on this outing again if I was offered to go for free.
My guide was very personable and friendly but he could see I was getting seaweed on every cast, he should have had an alternate location for us to go fish. I would have enjoyed fishing the rivers or another lake just for a change in scenery.
I blame myself for not doing the proper research. I normally get guide recommendations from my fishing community, this trip was planned last minute. I will however be posting what I have written above on all the fishing blogs that I belong too, I hope I can save just one person from booking this outing.

We had guide Mike for our day of fishing. Mike is a GREAT GUIDE AND PERSON. He was extremely accommodating and patient, and has a great sense of humor. He knows the waters we fished like the back of his hand. Mike was well prepared and ready with all of our equipment. We came early in the fishing season so it wasn’t optimal time but we managed to land 8 brown trout and missed several others in one day. I highly recommend this trip! Yes my non fishing daughter caught more fish than I did.

I really enjoyed my day on the Holaa River with guide, Ari, in spite of the dismal weather (rain and wind all day). Ari showed me how to fish this water and where to find fish. I hooked about a dozen fish, mostly Arctic Char, and two brown trout, on tiny black midge pupae. I got most of the fish to the net, but a couple managed to wriggle off the small hook. As a professional fly fishing guide myself, I appreciated Ari's local knowledge, and his good company made the day really enjoyable.

We had a fantastic day! I surprised my husband with this private tour, & our guide (Mike), was great! It was really too cold for much activity (end of April), so we didn’t get many fish, but he was patient in teaching me how to cast. My husband loved it & it was a perfect ending to a wonderful trip!

Surprised my husband with a private guide fishing day …… we had a wonderful time! Our guide Gudmann was very knowledgeable and patient… as we are beginners @ fly fishing!! Would highly recommend this company, very professional and lots of fun!! Will book with them again when we return to Iceland!

Really enjoyed the outing. Hooked a lot of artic char. Our guide, Ari, was truly great. Not only as a fishing guide, as would be expected. He also explained a lot about Iceland: its land, culture, and geology.

I have just had a one day guided salmon fishing trip with Heimir on the River Leirvogsa. From the initial enquiry right through to saying goodbye at the end of the day the service was impeccable. A superb guide and top quality equipment. I caught 6 salmon on the day (4 to flies and 2 to worm) and lost 2. I flew back to the UK and Heimir and his wife have arranged for some of the salmon to be smoked and couriered to me.
