The crystal clear waters make this a popular summer
vacation spot, attracting sunbathers and watersport
enthusiasts alike. Also, hike up to the neighboring
cedar tree reserves for a change of scenery.
A few meters from the beach is the small island
Elafonisi, which gave its name to the beach. The
level of the sea on that part is also shallow, so one
can walk there. Take your time to explore it. It is
surrounded by rocks and crags. There are a few nice
coves, that are worth discovering. There is also a
small chapel, in the memory of the lost Cretan
warriors.

We went there in October and it was so quiet. Water was fresh but tempoerature was 26 degrees so still nice an warm, and no grafetti like the rest of Crete. The parking was fine as it was so out of season but take your own food etc. and beach service gets busy later in the day.

Breathtaking. The beach is the most beautiful I’ve seen, and the trip there was amazing too! Driving through the beautiful mountains😍 we had a great tour guide too! 100% reccomend

The beach was beautiful but the whole " lunch is optional" thing should be explained better. Its not like we have the option of staying on the beach longer. You either go with the bus to the town to have lunch or you are stuck so its not really optional. I would have preferred another hour on the beach and also there were so many stops picking people up. I was just glad I was vaccinated because that bus is packed!
