Not a 5 star luxury experience; Amanda Luxury cruise; Luxury just in the name; simply not good
I recently went on a Amanda luxury cruise and, unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. The food was mediocre at best, lacking variety and flavor. It seemed as though there was a heavy bias towards the native cuisine, which left non-native passengers feeling excluded and underwhelmed by the dining options.
The crew members, while professional, exhibited limited patience and seemed overwhelmed. Their interactions often felt rushed and impersonal, which added to the overall negative atmosphere of the trip.
In summary, my time on the cruise was far from enjoyable. The average food quality, biased menu selections, and the crew's limited patience made it an experience I would not recommend. I expected a relaxing and enjoyable vacation, but unfortunately, it fell short in many aspects.

Be aware this is a rebranded company ( formerly La Pinta Cruises ) which took everyone’s money and then went into hiding. After promising refunds they blocked your email so no response could ever be heard again

The Cruise was wunderful. There were a lot of great activities. We really enjoyed the kajaking and swimming. We had a nice sunset and a nice cooking class. Generally, all the staff is very kind and helpful. Especially, Miss Anh Vân was outstanding. She went the extra mile for us and supported us beyond all expections. Because all of that, we totaly recommed this cruise.

Unfortunately, despite choosing the Amanda Ha Long Bay tour, we were booked onto the Amanda Lan Ha Bay tour, and while we let the boat manager know as soon as we got on and realised, nothing was actually done about it.
Lan Ha Bay is beautiful, but the Amanda boat on Lan Ha Bay was really disappointing compared to the pictures of the Ha Long Bay boat (and not worth the money we had paid for it). Our room was run down (our sink was broken and shower leaked), the bottom floor (including the dining room) smelt strongly of diesel and there was really loud music playing from the bar most of the evening. The first lunch and the breakfast weren't great.
However, the staff were helpful, the dinner and brunch were delicious, and the spring roll making and squid fishing were fun.

Our trip started terribly. We booked a VIP transfer. When the van arrived 40min later, we realized we that there is only 1 seat left and we are 2 people. So my husband was sitting behind in the middle seat and me between the driver and co-driver.
When we arrived on board, staff greeted us with some juice and lunch. Lunch was ok, portion was small. You get a free 2 bottles of water, 2 tee bags 2 coffee for free (that is in your room).
Room needs a maintenance. Shower door didn’t close properly, there was also a hole in the wall. On balcony I was missing a pillow for sitting on a corner chair.
As we booked this cruise for the Christmas, in the last moment we received a message saying we need to pay extra for the Christmass gala -> 45$ per person. It was horrible - we got a tasteless buffet. As a present we received a sleeping mask. For 45$/person I expected an unforgettable dinner experience or just a delicious food. Unfortunately the food tasted like nothing. Breakfast was not so good - there was a minimal buffet. Eggs tasted like nothing, toast was too sweet. Really it’s not ok what you get for the price you pay.
The members of the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Daily activities were fine - kayaking, going to the caves.
Generally too expensive for what you get.

I'm not sure if this was the actual boat we stayed on as there seems to be a number called Amanda. Anyway, this was one of the best features of the tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. The boat was of high quality with enormous cabins and beds for a cruise on a boat this size. Food and staff were excellent. Pity it was only for one night and I'd be happy staying at least another night.
