The original food tour of Little Italy and Chinatown since 2009 explores the tastes and history of two diverse NYC neighborhoods. This woman owned and operated business ensures that animated and friendly guides allow their guests to learn these neighborhoods through fascinating historical stories and culinary delights. There are 2-3 seated tastings and 5-6 on-the-go tastings to ensure that you explore both neighborhoods in 3 hours. We can accommodate guests who are vegetarian and gluten free.
The delicious food tastings range from delicious dumplings to a sit-down authentic Italian meal. For guests 21 and up there will be an option to have a glass of wine at the seated tasting.

The tour gals were great they knew their stuff. Luckily it was a cooler day so when we needed to be outside. Tastings were great
Only suggestion would be to maybe reserve spots where everyone can hear and not block area of restaurant.

We had an excellent tour with Lily. She was very engaging and knowledgeable about the history of Chinatown and Little Italy. Every dish that we sampled was fresh and delicious. Some of the foods were things that we might not have tried on our own, much less known about, which is exactly what we wanted on our tour. There was also a nice mix of walking and sitting, which was very much appreciated on our first day in NYC. We’ve already recommended this tour to other friends.

We really enjoyed our food tour this week. The weather was perfect, the food was excellent, and there was a lot of very interesting information about the neighborhoods we toured - their origin, and changes over time. The presentation of the info was presented with great energy and enthusiasm by Liz and Carol. It was also great to meet the other members of the group. Highly recommended!

Our tour leader (Hannah) was fun to be with and informative. The entire afternoon was enjoyable. She delved into history of the area which was new to me, even as a lifelong Jersey resident.

We ended up with a really small group. Just my husband, me and another couple who happened to be from the same place we are from! Lily was our tour guide and she was amazing! Very knowledgeable, interesting and lots of fun! The food choices were all really good and varied.

Lily was a wonderful guide, so much info. It's not just a food tour, it's a history class (but a fun one!) on the area over the past 200 years. It's a great way to have an 8 course meal with small portions and some walking in between. Also small group - we had 12 - which makes it very personalized. No idea how Lily remembers all of that info - fantastic job!

Why Perillo tours was a bad choice:
1) Perillo made airline reservations for my wife and myself months in advance of our trip to Italy, yet did not secure seats for us. Others on our tour, using the same airline, did not have this problem. I will leave out the major hassle this caused and just say, we almost had to cancel our trip right before it started.
2) June 2, we were scheduled for a walking tour of the colosseum and Roman forum. However, June2 is Italian National Day with massive celebrations throughout Rome. Maki it impossible to have the scheduled tour that day. As a result, we did 2 walking tours on the next day, which totaled 8 miles of walking.
3) we wanted to take the Tivoli gardens tour, offered for an extra charge, but it was unavailable because of the national day celebration. I guess Perillo tours didn’t realize Italian National Day has been going on for over 75 years.
4) The first restaurant we were taken to was in a word, awful . With subsequent meals wavering between bad and barely edible. Each restaurant had a “special” Perillo menu. Appetizers, usually 2, served to all, choice of 2 or 3 entrees, with no deviation. If you are familiar with good Italian food, pick your own restaurants.
5) Tour guides do not keep track of there assigned group.
In conclusion, there were certainly some good times had. However, not enough of them provided by Perillo tours. Ray S
