Directions were clear. Tour guides meet you INSIDE the bus station at the gates they tell you. Staff were extremely welcoming, kind, and professional. Mia was our driver-guide and was 100% efficient, safe, and helpful. She looked and sounded happy about her job. It was great having her onboard. The trip felt a little long at times, but it was maybe because Edinburgh is far from Loch Ness.

Swain was a great driver and told us some wonderful stories. The sights were all beautiful, the bus was comfortable and there were plenty of bathroom stops. We really enjoyed the day!

I went on the tour together with my mom and we both enjoyed it a lot. Our guide was Robert and he was very kind and gave lots of insights in Scottish history and culture. Of course due to the trip being only 1 day, most of the time was spent travelling in the small bus, however we still got plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful landscape and take lots of pictures. Big thumbs up!

This tour was FANTASTIC! We had such a great time and we LOVED the fact this was a small bus compared to the big buses. In fact, the whole family agrees this was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip to the UK. It made us all want to make the Scottish Highlands top priority for a future trip. Our Guides, Lizzie and Jamie were INCREDIBLE. I wish so bad I could have a recording of Lizzie's narration of the Scottish history and stories she gave the entire tour. So much information! She was so knowledgeable, EASY TO UNDERSTAND (I've heard people complain on other tours that they had a hard time with a thick accent which made it difficult to understand the narration), and so animated. (she told me she was a theater major, which showed!) We can't say enough good things about Lizzie and Jamie (the driver). We would book this tour again in heartbeat and would recommend this to anyone thinking of booking a day trip to the highlands from Edinburgh.

The cruise on Loch Ness was surprisingly informative. The views of the Highlands during the drive are stunning. Alastair is a great driver and guide. His history vignettes and stories keep you engaged.

The smaller group is the way to go on these trips. The minibus was comfortable and our guide, Jim, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information. You are on the minibus a lot so be prepared for that, you go a good distance. The stops are fairly short except for the Loch Ness cruise, which is 50 minutes long so you spend about 90 minutes there. The cruise is fine and, since you are there, might as well do it. Other stops are 5 minutes for quick pics at some great scenery. A long day, but overall good one.

I want to start off by saying that our guide Bryan was absolutely lovely! We learned a lot about Scottish history and folklore without being bombarded by it. We also listened to some Celtic music along the way which was fitting for the backdrop. In addition, we made some short, but sweet pit stops to include the ruins of a 1400s Scottish castle. Very cool!

I really have nothing negative to say about the tour itself, but my dissatisfaction lies within the transportation. While the Mercedes Benz bus sounds ‘luxury’ in theory, it was incredibly cramped!!! And I’m not tall by any stretch. There was extremely limited leg room which made it difficult to find a comfortable position for the 6 plus hours we spent “butt in seat”. To add insult to injury, the seatbelt connector sticks straight up which ended up pressing in our thigh for the entire ride. It made what could have been a relaxing journey, almost agonizing towards the end.

In summary, if you only have one day to dedicate to the Highlands, this tour may be the perfect fit for your itenary, as it was for ours. But I would certainly do your research on the different tours offered.

In summary, it was a lot of “butt in seat time” for very little reward. I would highly recommend adding an extra day to your intenary to make the Scottish highlands worth visiting. I could spend a week out there back packing through the countryside. It was absolutely stunning and deserves more than a quick Loch Ness cruise in your itenerary.

Would I do Highlands again… Yes! Would a do a 12 hour bus again… definitely not.
