Extraordinary! The incredible welcome by the taximan, the local guides and the simply magical place. Too bad our guide spoke neither French nor English.

Great Bedouin companion, very knowledgeable, educated, perfect English. Just very unexpected, unbelievable scenery. It was July, but so nice and perfect in the desert...so peaceful, untouched...

As part of our Day Tour to Petra yesterday (see separate Review) my wife and myself spent 2 hours in the Northern Section of a Wadi Rum culminating in watching a very nice sunset.

Our Bedouin Driver/Guide Ya Ya (or John to his British friends) was excellent - he came from the nearby Town/Village and knew this Section (and probably most of the rest of Wadi Rum) like the back of his hands. As such, he showed us some fascinating sandstone rock formations but - above all - how quiet it is. Certainly the place to come when one needs to mull over any serious decisions!

We also met some Bedouins (together with their camels and dogs) and enjoyed some delicious herb tea - as well as buying a few small items from the nearby gift shop!

All in all, a most enjoyable couple of hours which has tempted us to consider spending a night under the stars on our next visit!

Wadi Rum itself is amazing to see but the tour was meant to be a full day (and for the price we expected as much) but instead lasted in total three hours, including the transfer to and from our hotel in Aqaba - therefore we felt as though we had been a little ripped off! The weather was cold and windy which may explain the fact that our guide rushed through things but even the 'visit to bedouin tent' was more like us standing around while some people set up a table with trinkets they wanted tourists to buy...Then when we were driving back to Aqaba, our guide asked us out of the blue if we wanted to go see the aquarium which we didn't so went back to our hotel. We assume that the experience would be better if the weather had not been so cold so perhaps best not to book in February.
