Sample Spanish nightlife and Madrid's tasty tapas on an evening walking tour that will tantalize your taste buds! Led by an entertaining foodie guide, this walking tour is the best introduction to the laid back Madrileno lifestyle. In a small group, with an average maximum of 10 people, you'll visit Madrid's tucked-away corners and feast on tasty treats you would never discover on your own, leaving you with a lasting feeling for Madrid and its people, and an appetite for its fabulous food and drink!

Our unique pay-as-you-go system allows us to personalize things to your tastes on the night. The tour price includes your first drink and tapas at the first bar you'll visit. You can then choose how much or how little you'd like to eat and drink at the other bars/restaurants you'll visit on the evening walking tour. For a satisfying night out you should expect to spend about 35-40 euros per person.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

WHAT TO EXPECT

1.
We will meet between the two metro entrances of Metro Opera in Plaza Isabel II and introduce you to fellow travelers and explain the plan for the evening. PLEASE NOTE THIS ITINERARY IS AN EXAMPLE ONLY AS WE CHANGE THINGS AND ADAPT ACCORDING TO THE NEEDS OF THE GROUP ON THE NIGHT. From here we will go to our first bar where the food and drink is included in the tour price (min 1 drink and 3 tastings) and get the evening started explaining the origins of tapas and some of its ins and outs. Duration 40 mins
2.
We will walk through the Main Square of Madrid and tell you a bit about its history and traditions and make a few suggestions on what to see/eat/drink during the rest of your stay. Duration: Passing through
3.
We wil tell you all about this iconic square, its buildings, history and traditions. Duration: Passing through
4.
You will have built up an appetite by now so we will go to our second bar where we will advise you on what are the best things to eat and drink and explain how tapassing is done in Spain with useful information on how to order, tipping etc. Duration: 30mins
5.
We are now getting into the swing of tapassing, Madrid style, so only a short walk to the next bar where we will get you tasting more of their specialty dishes. Duration 45mins
6.
You may be beginning to feel a little full by now but avoid the bread and leave some room for the last bar where we will try to book a table and sit down to finish off in a more relaxed fashion, often with some great seafood. On the way we will point out some more not-to-miss spots and some historical buildings such as the Spanish parliament etc. Our tour will end in this last bar and you should be very full. Depending on the night and group, you will probably have tried anywhere between 12 and 20 different dishes and have got a real feel for the Madrid culinary scene.

James was a fantastic host, and we had a lot of fun! We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a delicious intro to Madrid’s tapas scene. Although James claims not to be a historian, the tidbits of history and culture that he shared with us made the experience even more special!

James was the epitome of a good tour guide. He knew how to talk about the city and the food and how to make sure people had a great time. The food he selected was delicious and he seemed to know the staff at each of the restaurants he took us too. An absolute highlight of our Madrid trip!

James was amazing. If I could give 10 stars I would. He made this experience one to remember. He took us around 4 bars of Madrid and got us to try amazing tapas from each place. He had us trying all the best dishes from each bar. He kept it light and fun with some history interjections. It was an amazing experience.

This was a great night with James. He was very personable and friendly. We went to 4 different restaurants/bars and he gave great drink and food recommendations based on our tastes. He did a great job of giving us options while encouraging us to try new things so we could experience the culture of Spain. I would recommend this tour highly!

If you are a foodie and want a taste of the local food scene in Madrid, then this tour is for you! James took us to restaurants and bars that I wouldn’t have picked as a first-timer in Madrid, and he had us try dishes that I wouldn’t have otherwise! He also taught us the local etiquette at restaurants and showed us some of the key sights around the neighborhood. I also appreciated James’ respect and admiration for the local culture. Highly recommend!

Without a doubt, the highlight of our Madrid experience. The Tapas tour is an ecclectic mix of a foodie bar crawl with a scavenger hunt interspersed with the snarky insight of a Scotsman. James is a vertible gem with a wealth of local knowledge and connections. He continued to provide information and assistance for the duration of our stay rather than for the duration of the experience. We were too busy eating, drinking, and enjoying to remember to take pictures. Our teenage boys (18,18,14) had such a great time that they never took out their cell phones. I would encourage everyone to always answer Yes if James asks you to try something. We will definitely do this again anytime we are in Madrid. I would give him an 11 if the scale would allow me.
